Me and my grandma love Japanese culture and we’re not actually Japanese, we’re more western. She had a kimono she got when she was young so it’s quite old and get lended it to me and I have never worn one before so this helped!

I wouldn't personally want to stick any kinds of pins into any kimono, in my eyes it could ruinen the kimono over time.
@mei85114 жыл бұрын
oh definitely. kimonos are made of silk right? so i'm pretty aure that pins wouldn't be good for it. but yukatas are made of cotton so using pins on yukatas should be fine
@japanobjects98014 жыл бұрын
That's a good point (if you'll excuse the pun!). But if you're a beginner and especially if you're starting off with cotton yukata, you'll probably find this really helpful. Once you've had more practice you wouldn't need to use a pin anymore.
@annalenakubinger4 жыл бұрын
Just came to say that; I've found this video looking for a refresh tutorial on how to wear my kimono (which was a rather expensive gift from a Japanese lady a few years back) and the use of the pin shocked me... For beginners it's a nice trick (how do Japanese children learn it?), but it should probably be mentioned to only use it on UNIQLO yukata & the likes :)

Hi Izuru, I don't know what character you're playing, but if that character wears a kimono, then you can use this method to put it on. For men, there would be no fold at the waist.

@japanobjects98014 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! Well first of all, none of it is mandatory, you should wear what you feel comfortable in. If you want to wear a kimono in the standard way, they are normally worn with the undergarment (nagajuban) and socks (tabi). For a yukata as shown in this video, you would not normally wear either. I hope that helps!
