I AM SO EXCITED THAT I FOUND YOU AND YOUR VIDEOS!! I am creating a Minotaur creature and had never thought of the weathering aspect of the fur but it makes perfect sense. It will add so much more to its reality.

It struck me while you were talking about clay-ing up feet that if you thin some terracotta with red pigment (food colouring? paint?) in the water, you could probably get a very creepy muddy-battlefield effect. Excellent for Worgen and other furry warriors.

Thank you so much for this video. It really helped with weathering the fur on my Officer K jacket. Especially the tip about using the heat gun to shrivel, and shrink the fur.

Oh, I guess I need to learn how to weather my fur, but I'm on doodling work art first. I don't have a lot of furs for my Roguer character. Only I have one gray fur. I need to a lot of materials.

So fun! Does the smell of the hair gel ever go away? And can you recommend a fur that can be shaved or scissored down for a face and paws? I'm trying to make a weasel art doll.
@KazplayVideos7 ай бұрын
Yep! The smell does fade over time. Usually luxury shag can be shaved easy. Get it from Mendel's, bigZ or Howl's but they also have fur that is shorter to start with!
@mmedeuxchevaux7 ай бұрын
@@KazplayVideos Thank you! I'm interested in the shorter fur but I wouldn't know how to transitition the short fur of the face to the longer fur on the body. SO MUCH to learn!

Thank you for this. I will be working on weathering some furry shag carpet this weekend for my Thorin cosplay. I will let you know if I have come up with good results with additional methods.

Great video, thanks. I'm about to weather long fur with dark gray base to white tips. I don't want it totally grungy, just a bit more organic. Do you think soaking the fur in rusty water would stain it without completely altering the texture as paint does? Would a diluted spray of acrylics work? I can obviously try these things but maybe your experience would stop me making a big error. Thanks!
@KazplayVideos3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The rusty water could potentially work, but I don't think it would hold, I'd be worried about it rubbing off onto other costume pieces. If you want a stained effect, I'd look into ipoly dye, it's made for synthetic materials. But airbrushing is an easier method and doesn't change the texture as much as you'd think if you only want a slight color change. But I recommend getting a high quality airbrush paint like createx or golden. But trying things first to find your preference is always the best policy :) good luck!

Hi I hope you still use this channel!! What’s your experience, if any, with washing what you create for cosplay? Specifically concerned with the rinsing out of acrylic paints and way synthetic fibers will lose any distressing if laundered incorrectly
@KazplayVideos2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I have a video about washing my cosplays. The truth is that washing will fade any acrylic paints and the hair gel will also wash out if you put it through a machine. Both would be fairly easy to redo though so that would be my plan if I needed a super thorough cleaning. My real strategy is to keep the costume as clean as possible in the first place by showering before, wearing under armor, drying out everything as fast as possible and using an alcohol /water spray to disinfect. Then if it really needs it I'll use a small carpet cleaner to spot clean. Check out the other video on my channel!

+Hartigan Cosplay yep! I use cheap acrylic craft paint. I do want to invest in some nice createx acrylic airbrush paint, but it can get expensive to buy a bunch at once. The little bit I have used is amazing though

Hi I would like to know where do you buy your fur, I've looked everywhere but I can't find what I'm looking for, more precisely I search on google for faux fur and it shows me fur clothes, which doesn't help me.

Try searching BigZ fabric, Mendel's fabric, Howl's fabric, and your local Joann's store :)

Hi ; could you please make a tutorial on how to make faux fur look like the fur on the Vultures jacket from spiderman homecoming
@KazplayVideos3 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen the movie but from what I could tell from screenshots, the techniques in this video would do the trick, especially the hair gel. Then you would just need to paint the fur with a light brown/yellow very lightly to make it the right color

When applying the hair gel and it dries. If it happens to rain will it ruin the hair gel when it's on the fur or if it gets wet.
@KazplayVideos Жыл бұрын
Yes, it will need to be re-applied if it gets wet or starts to look less messy. I think a light rain wouldn't hurt it.
@victorkraszewski7247 Жыл бұрын
@Kazplay Videos just got done talking with another person who did your trick. They said to use g2b spiking gel or spray after to seal it. So when wet it will look even better. If you try it in a video let me know how it turns out.

I've always wondered, how to you clean airbrushed fur? I've heard and read so many horror storys about when people washed their suites all the airbrushing came off and dyed their suits. Is this true?
@KazplayVideos7 жыл бұрын
+The Art Furry just be gentle! Hand wash and use gentle detergents. Airbrushing and weathering effcts will have to be refreshed after washing or a couple washings
