Weave in as you go is a simple method that works for all slightly fuzzy animal fibers. Basically, you twist the tails around the working yarn for 5-8 stitches and then trim away the ends. It works when you need to join a new ball, or also when you want to join a new color at the beginning of a row to knit stripes.

I love this technique! Not having to weaving a ton of tails! Love this! Could you do a video on how to knit continental? I have always been a thrower but I would love to learn continental. Just never have found a video that makes sense to me. Love your trainings!

Thanks for the super Tip. Certainly cannot be found in the books so far how to weave in when joining a new ball of yarn. I normally used a Tapestry needle to weave in ends but wrapping is much nicer and neater. I was wondering then how to do it similarly with crochet. Thank you. 😇

You are so welcome! as for crochet...can't help you there but I'm sure there's a way. Probably by picking up the tail and holding it double for a couple of stitches.

@@nimbleneedlestwo Sorry to confuse you. With crochet I know how to weave in ends and join a new ball of yarn. What i meant was exactly how you explained in your video for knitting. I know how to hide / weave in ends in Crochet and found out how to do it recently in knitting. Thank you 😘

Hi Norman… I learned this technique from you and now I use it exclusively! Love it!! My question is….you can trim the tails in the middle but can you also trim the tail at the beginning right up against the fabric? Thank you for all of your tutorials!!
@nimbleneedlestwo
@nimbleneedlestwo 2 жыл бұрын
well, I personally wouldn't trim the tails too close to the first stitch because then things might wiggle through a bit. But once you washed it a coule of time, you should be safe to do that.

This is my favorite way to secure tails and have been using it for years. I agree that it is really best to wash and block your garment before trimming the ends. I speak from experience. 😒

Very helpful. But I wonder, what method for weaving in ends as I go should I use when working with cotton yarn?
@nimbleneedlestwo
@nimbleneedlestwo 6 ай бұрын
none. you cannot weave in ends as you go with cotton. it doesn't felt or stick.

Thanks for this video, it sure looks quite simple. Do you have a similar trick about weaving ends of plant fibers, like cotton or bamboo ?
@nimbleneedlestwo
@nimbleneedlestwo 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, with this slippery fiberes there's no way around weaving in ends the traditional yarn with a sharp tapestry needle. :(

Thank you for this! This is the clearest explanation I've found of this technique. I'm doing a checkerboard stitch (like moss stitch or seed stitch, but 2X2 instead of 1X1). I can't get it to look quite right with the purl stitches, and I think it's because the wrapping would need to happen at the front of the work. Am I right about that?

Hi Norman. This is a great technique. I seem to have trouble when joining a new color quite often. For some reason it becomes quite loose. My teacher keeps trying to figure out why this is happening. I haven’t done it in a while but I think the last couple of times I tied it on to the previous color and it was better. I think this technique might just do the trick! Thanks for sharing! Have a wonderful week!🤗

Oh I know. I was just telling you and that I think this may be a viable solution! Definitely worth a try. Up until now I’ve been tying the new one to the old one and then I untie them afterwards and weave them in. Works pretty well but I’m definitely going to try this! Thanks again Norman!
