I have watched a LOT of welding videos, and this one video had tips I've never seen explained before. Everyone talks about grinding your tacks, but your little drawing explained it so much clearer. That's only one example. When I work with newbies, if they are interested, I will barage them with all the little tips and tricks I know; the kind of things I wish someone would have showed me when I first started. It's nice to see you pre-emptively providing him with tips and answers to questions he doesn't even know to ask yet. I loved the bit about Covid as well!

Just talked to one of your graduates and former student of mine. At 19, he will be making as much as the principal at our school who shows little to no interest in our Welding and Automotive high school vocational programs that build the foundation for young people to build off of like this young man. Great video and good tips I will be showing my advanced welding students! Who knows maybe another will come your way and get after it too.

Awesome video right here! Great tips I definitely learned a few things. Do you guys have any advice on beveling pipe to practice with if you don’t have a beveling machine? I’ve noticed some jobs opening up for pipe welders where I am so I bought some pipe to practice but I’ve just been beveling with a grinder and it definitely takes quite some time to get it really slick.

Buddy is obviously the real deal and has been doing this at the highest levels for a long tint.... with that said lol....ive never seen someone use 2 speed squares to square a flange to the pipe. I mean hell you can only move your tape 2" from where you got your original number to compare it to. It would be more accurate, easier, faster, and only needs 1 person to just whip out that torpedo level lol. I can't stress enough that this but is clearly the real deal though and I'm sure he could teach me more than I could teach him for damn sure.... but that double speed square off the flange thing is for the birds 😅😅😅😅

@Western Welding Academy I have an idea. I welcome the feedback, good or bad. I see you do 2 layers (is that the right term?) of welding. Could you weld with 1 rod for a short length then use a second new rod in parallel with the other rod to start the second layer? Then when the first rod is used up, use the second rod to do the 1st layer of weld and a new rod for the second. Then repeat this until both layers are done. Is that possible? I can video chat you to try an explain it with visuals if you want.
