I am here to refresh. I haven't welded since I got my certification. And now I got a test on Monday. Dam it.

You are teaching the right way. My instructor in high school taught me the same way by running stringer beads. He did not allow wash passes because mastering stringer beads will help you when you move on to learn pipe.

I've been struggling hard with 7018 vertical fillet joint. Every video I have seen has some kind of upside down V or crescent or side to side manipulation to prevent undercut. Well, turns out those manipulations were giving me undercut. As soon as I just tried to lay it in with virtually no manipulation except for the slightest wiggle it laid in like it was goin to sleep. So for anyone struggling like I was and being given all of the Christmas tree, upside down V, three dimensional triangle garbage forget that nonsense. Just keep a tight arc, but don't gouge, and keep a steady travel speed with a straight in or slightly raised travel angle.

I'm interested in becoming a welder and pipe fitter, I heard Tulsa is one of the best welding school in USA?
@SuperTheController4 жыл бұрын
People be whining and crying saying a 7 month program doesn’t teach you anything and that it’s expensive for no reason blablabla. Yes it’s expensive but does it teach you a lot YES!!! you have to be willing to put many hours in practice at Tulsa or anything that has to do with welding it’s something that I learned from the start. If you are a couch potato it’s probably not a good trade for you. The people saying that it doesn’t teach you nothing are the COUCH POTATOS that don’t want to listen or put in extra hours. You can stay practicing all day if you want until the school closes and no one bothers you. The price of the school literally pays its self they help you get a job. It might take a minute but they try.

5 to a max 10 degrees of a push angle..... runs a 20 degree angle the whole time. If you don’t change your angle you’ll get undercut, proceeds to make a bread knife from that edge of plate. No undercut at all, maybe a little tiny bit right there but no big deal, as he passes by the 1/4” crater on that root tie in. 😂. Tulsa got y’all paying 20k for a cert from these dudes

5 or 10 degree position really? Five or ten degree max ? Really? Ur laying the rod flat almost perpendicular to go plate not a 45 degree position. U almost as laying the rod on the metal itself lol it's not 5 or 10 degree max . Lol get ur angles right. That isn't 5 or 10 degree angle. 45 and 90 u said 5 or 10 ur almost laying the welding rod flat . Not 45 angle and 90 . In other words . The angle u said is wrong. Not 5 or ten degree position should be 45 and 90
@lawlowmusic5571 Жыл бұрын
He is referencing his hand/stinger as the center/0 point and the rod is angled in the corresponding degree. So technically his angle is around 5-10 degrees. I assume he chose to do this for the learners to understand easily. No need to go . All . Crazy . With . The . Grammar . Lol .
