Honestly, I almost skipped the video since the start it wasn't filtering out the light but something told me to stick around. I am glad that I did. I have had trouble tig welding aluminum since it doesn't really pool the same way as steel (at least that is the way I feel) and your narration along with seeing it happen in real time helped for sure. I might hop back on the welder soon now!

Very nice work; your narration is descriptive and to the point, no guessing required. Seeing it happen as you weld is excellent, it helps make your point about the waiting and the add filler. Thank you for your skilled demonstration.

37 1/2 degree is the proper bevel for pipe heavy wall pipe such as main steam may have a 37/10 bevel on it and I’ve ran the gold track with 5 degree bevel but a 45 degree angle is way to much for a multitude of reasons this is just fyi! Your doing great job

Great video man! Learning how to weld and I find myself struggling with piping mostly (working on building a hot side and cold side for my ls build). The inside and different angles really helped me visualize what to look for and understand that it requires good timing. I find as a new welder and being self taught, I’m always worried about burning through my material so sometimes (at least of SS) my welds look cold

This video is very well presented and I have never seen the inside shots before...very nice. I noticed that you do not quite entirely fill the bevel on either side of the weld. In a real application would this be acceptable? Would it reduce the strength of whatever gauge wall thickness you originally had? Thank you.

I got my Alphatig 200X a little more than a month ago, love it. Glad to see someone using one, although I'm not to the skill level as you(Yet!). I know some machines cleaning settings are reversed, when you mention your setting, let's say 35%, is that the dial setting, or the actual percentage cleaning/penetration? As an example, 35% on AHP is equivalent to 65% on some other brands. Just watched a few of your videos, already helping me to learn. I like the way you explain things, some youtubers just showcase their skill without saying how they do it. Keep putting them out.
@5thStreetFab7 жыл бұрын
I mean on the actual dial on the ahp. So on ahp it shows DCEP and on others they show DCEN. You'll be able to tell if you have to much if your tungsten starts to melt. With the ahp with 100% argon you should need thicker than a 3/32 tungsten at 200 amps. And thank you for watching!
@ljdm19567 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick reply! The tip on tungsten size is appreciated, too. Look forward to more videos, gonna use some of your tips and techniques over the next few days. BTW, what part of the country are you from? Just curious.

Nice job Perfect bead inside. I think if the pipe is welded in position the story changes a bit. The sink in becomes a suck back and is a repair on x ray.
@5thStreetFab3 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud! With aluminum its pretty hard to get suck back unless its a fillet weld. I have a video of the same technique in 6g somewhere on here.

Good vid. You also explain the necessity of clean aluminum which is very important. Curious what type of TIG welder you have. Sounds like a Dynasty from miller. I have a syncrowave 210 from miller. Very nice machine just wish I had more fine tuning settings. Oh well. Again excellent video, explains the right amount and doesn't overload your head lol. Bravo !

Thank you very much. I just have a cheap AHP 200x. Amazon sells them for under $800. Ya the syncrowave 210s are pretty nice. At work we have the syncrowave 250s big ol' transformers. Really nice smooth welders though.

There seems to be a lot of people in welding aluminum. If my memory serves me right, from when I worked in a ship yard, aluminum will shrink when welded. If you measured a pipe length, by the it was welded it could wind up shorter than you wanted. Especially if there were multiple welds.
@cupidchaos4 жыл бұрын
I have a question..after done aluminium weld joint the pipes,is there posibility that the weld section can get a leak spot or the aluminium has weld is melting back if the weld pipes is at high tempereture place..what i meant is this method of welding apply for using motorcycle exhaust system..thanks
