Yo g! This is sick, I weld pipe on a daily basis but not this thick wall. How do you get to do the four passes so uniform? Do you draw a line or something in there to follow? Sick job brother, greetings from Spain!❤
@2freshgarage18414 сағат бұрын
@@articz267 i don’t draw any lines I just use a weld lenses that allows me to see very clearly and it helps me keep it more uniform. The weld lenses I use it called a vintage view black daliah with the shade 11 version . I would highly recommend it💪

Good video. It is to bad you work for a company that does not provide a Positioner. I have worked for companies like that to. Makes it hard to get the work done easier and faster. You did a nice job 👍🏼

We have some roll out wheels but since I’m younger I take the in position welds and allow my older co workers to use the postioners. I usually weld in the refinery’s so I don’t really have a problem welding in position. Thanks for watching 🙏

Here's my 2 cents to anyone interested... When you're tig welding carbon pipe, make sure to use ER70S-"6", not ER70S-2. It's a night-and-day difference, especially on the root.

Don’t get me wrong very nice Weld. But why would you Tig a 16 inch heavy wall pipe all the way out? You should be jumping to stick weld after the first three passes of Tig.
@2freshgarage1842 күн бұрын
@@threestrikes8262 the welding procedure we have for these pipes only allows for TIG to be used . That’s how the customer wants it basically
@threestrikes82622 күн бұрын
Got you, cause normally something that thick will use GTAW & SMAW process. Still nice weld.
@2freshgarage1842 күн бұрын
@@threestrikes8262 I was on the oil rig offshore and had to do a tie in on one of these big pipes and the operator was telling me they prefer Tig because it causes less sparks than a stick weld which reduces the chance of fires that could also be a reason the procedure is just Tig.
@threestrikes82622 күн бұрын
That makes more sense why they would have you do the GTAW all the way out. How long you’ve been welding.

Never seen 4 beads! I feel like being a welder is impossible.. I learned to walk the cup when I went to a welding school and practiced from all the different angles/ positions etc but knowing how many beads , the amps, wire, gap size etc seems impossible to learn … I don’t think welding is for me
