Been since the late 90’s to 2000 since I welded sanitary, and this helped me refresh my memory on how to weld sanitary, I did this in NC at Campbell soup company for a contractor

For 16 years I made stainless steel pipe and tubing at a factory. It was awesome. We made a lot of sanitary tubing. 304 is most common but 316 is used if it needs to be electro polished. Because most tubing is belt polished even if it looks very shiny. You will know if it's been belt polished or electro.

In the sanitary pipe welding field do you guys ever have to pie cut to make radiuses or cut out sections of off pre bent mandrels? If so what tools would then be used to make accurate cuts? Im in the automotive field and most of the ways we get bends are thru mandrel bends and pie cuts but they usually get cut with a band saw but I always hate it because I can never get a perfect straight edge so its very time consuming

Why coukdnt you use a pipe cutter roller to cut the tubing? If you went slow if wouldnt roll the edge , is it a possibility?
@DarlingtonFarm5 жыл бұрын
I have tried it it roles it just enough to cause problems

The cutting guide clamp is not a one time use. It has a groove for a Bi-metal blade on a reciprocating saw (Sawzall) on one side, and a groove for a Porta band saw right next to it. Its use is for cutting into sanitary tubing where you cant remove a section of tubing already installed at a plant. A horizontal band saw and a cold saw gives you the best cuts on the sanitary tube. Do not use a sanding or flap disk or grinder to debur, use a fine file.
@stevennoyb45953 жыл бұрын
He said you only get about 1 cut out of the sawzall blade, not the clamp.

What is the little cutting block called that you use with a sawsall; and where do you get them? You've called it by two different names and I can't seem to catch either one.

They are called saw blocks, teck south sells them

Hi, very informative video, I was wondering if the tube has to be cold cut? If it was cut with a hot method (eg grinder) and cleaned back to silver does this affect the material (& therefore the subsequent weld) or is it just more effort to clean and square. Thanks.

Need to sort your purge out, need a cleanee root than that @7.10 !!
@TIG-Moto3115 жыл бұрын
Outside doesnt look the best, purge looks fine. There is no root in sanitary welding. One pass, no filler, all fuse.

304 just destroys tooling
@willysnowman3 жыл бұрын
@@DarlingtonFarm Did you ever try a slow speed? 304 work hardens if it gets any heat. On the mill I run it about 30 SFM with high speed steel tools. I always keep a higher feedrate. They idea is to dig under the hardened layer and always cut and never rub which causes the heat. You can see it using a hand drill. Lots of RPM kills the drill quick. Slow RPM and lots of pressure and the drill lasts longer.

Hi mate, I worked on aircraft engine tubing and we used to cut tube with a hand saw and then faced it off with a facing off machine. Well easier than your methods.

The inside of that line isn’t the greatest. A shiny gold is more what you want but once they run a few cycles of CIP all that will go away

Excuse me for speaking my mind but I thought the video was how to weld sanitary pipe the whole video was just on your Cutters and how to cut stainless steel pipe totally misleading video

If that's stainless steel disregard my comment. I still need a cheaper, but more efficient way to do this.
