Nice video with great content! Truly needed on KZbin as no one seems to cover this topic. I built a brewing system about 10yr ago and just rebuilt it over again (now all electric). Want to weld on the fittings but couldn't find anyone discussion this topic on youtube until i found these videos. Thanks!

Love this video! I convert old kegs into brewing equipment and love watching others post video of fusion welds, especially pulse fusion welding. I would love to see a video of you welding some 1.5" ferrules on a keg or even a 55gal stainless drum! When you are done you can even sell it to someone in the brewing industry

Welding ferrules onto a keg is super useful. You can make yeast brinks with them. That's what brought me here!

I'm having one heck of a time with welding this stuff... I cant seem to keep it consistent.. I'm using a little lincoln 210mp as well as a lincoln 200 square wave.. same results on both.. I've tried running lower argon flow.15.and higher 35 on flow meter .. also tried ranges from 20-60 just trying to figure it out Also tried different cups and gas lenses.. nothing ever comes out flush on the outside or flat inside.. mostly I get concave outside (dipped in) and concave on the inside .. any help would be greatly appreciated. Ps. I'm running the purge plug system as well I'm currently working in a cheese factory and I'm having a horrible time figuring this out ... I've been welding for a long time .. stainless and income and other crazy stuff... I just cant get this to work..
@keirhamilton5 жыл бұрын
If you had to choose either the 210mp or the 200tig, which would it be? for TIG welding of course.

You need to see how much pressure is running out from where you are letting the purge leak out. Lick the back of your hand and you should be able to feel the purge faint at 6” this will make your welds flush inside and out. Good luck.

If you welded one onto a bigger diameter tank would you weld both sides or just the inside?

Very informative, thanks! Is there ever a need to polish/clean the inside of the tube? Or do you just rely on CIP systems.
@DarlingtonFarm5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Most of the time after it gets cip washed with an acid and a caustic wash so no need. Depending on the application they will get pasivated with is an acid bath just depends on the application

Just wondering why are you not purging while doing your tacks?
@kf85755 жыл бұрын
Very quick split second blast to instantly fuse the pieces together, at say 120-130amps, with a very sharp tungsten and you can get away with no purge just for tacking.

If youve got a big volume to purge (like the kettle you showed) why not simply use more purge lines. Works great if youve got a large volume to purge, by getting big volumes of gas into it in one go.
@AustinWhitehead95 жыл бұрын
Do they ever do any x-ray or die pen testing on sanitary tubing or is it all visual? What kind of weld test would they do for this kind of work? Thanks.
@DarlingtonFarm5 жыл бұрын
I've never seen anything beyond visual. Most is not running any kind of crazy pressure.
@MrBurningrubber5 жыл бұрын
So how come you don't use any filler wire ?
@DarlingtonFarm5 жыл бұрын
Filler introduces oxidation and can cause pits which hold bacteria
@MrBurningrubber5 жыл бұрын
@@DarlingtonFarm I disagree I work in that industry and have always used filler. When everything is purged there are no inclusions in the weld. Not only that but it also is less likely to crack due to there being added strength. As where a weld with no filler wire is more likely to stress crack. You can also get the same flat profile on the inside of the weld.
@stevennoyb45953 жыл бұрын
@@MrBurningrubber most cracks are in the haz, not the weld itself.
