@SummerRainDIY23 күн бұрын
Hi @heathertirak6051! Yes, a larger container or piping the frosting lower would definitely help prevent dripping when the candle is lit. Keeping the frosting minimal on top is a great way to maintain that cute look while avoiding any mess. Thanks so much for your comment!

The video is very helpful. Something that I’ve found has been super helpful for me is practicing with frosting. Especially a whip cream frosting. It’s easy and quick to make and you can get really good piping a bunch of designs and reusing it. Stabilize the whip cream using some gelatin and you could practice with it all day! Another thing that might make it easy is using a professional piping bag. For frosting I find it works a lot easier, and I can only imagine that the wax method is even harder.
@SummerRainDIYАй бұрын
Great points! Practice definitely makes perfect, and stabilizing whipped cream with gelatin is a smart way to extend practice time. Wax can be a pain when you are not used to it, but it feels really good when you get the hang of it.

In Facebook candle making groups they say to stir your fragrance oil in your wax for 2 minutes. Also if your candles tunnel you can just poke holes in the top of your candle and then use a heat gun to melt the top of the candle and it’ll fill in the holes & tunnel.

At what temperature is best to start whipping the wax??
@SummerRainDIY2 ай бұрын
Great question! For whipping wax, it's best to start when the wax has cooled to around 120-130°F . This temperature allows the wax to start thickening, which is ideal for whipping. Make sure to keep an eye on it to get the right consistency! 🕯️✨

I also need more practice piping! If you want to practice a bit with the wax, when it cools down you can put it in a bowl and heat it back up a little and try again. You will have to mix it again with the hand mixer to get it back to the whipped consistency.

I've made a few of these now, and can not figure out how to get them to burn with a full melt pool. Do you know if there is a way to have candles with piped wax (frosting) melt fully or will they always tunnel as they melt?
@SummerRainDIY Жыл бұрын
The wax is less structured because it has the air pockets. To lessen this, try using less whipped top. If you find the wick gets more than 1/4 inch, trim it. You can also allow it to burn for a bit then cool, I find this helps.

Great video!! What do you recommend to use for the essential oils for candle making?
@SummerRainDIY19 күн бұрын
@AngeliqueMontoya-io5ue Thank you so much! 😊 For candle making, I recommend using essential oils with high flash points (around 170°F/77°C or higher) to ensure they blend well and stay safe in the wax. Some good options are lavender, eucalyptus, or cedarwood. Just make sure to check each oil's flash point and start with a small amount to test the scent throw. Enjoy your candle-making! 🕯️✨

Is it fine to use 100% soy wax for frosting? Because it hardens sooner before we pipe i guess!!

Yes, you can use soy wax. The key to keeping the wax pliable is continuing to mix it. Once you are at a consistency where it starts to hold its shape, then you put it in the piping bag. You do have to work quickly to get it piped before it hardens.

Great question, @romangajek6945! 😊 Piping candle wax can definitely be tricky! The wax needs to be at just the right temperature-warm enough to pipe smoothly but cool enough to hold its shape. If it’s too cool, it thickens and can clog the piping bag. Hope that helps! 🙌
