Check out this video for a full explanation of how to whip the ends of boat lines. This is an important skill to have in order to keep your lines from unravelling, and to make your boat look ship-shape. It doesn't take long, and you only need a few basic supplies to get started.
Here are a few suggestions on materials:
Whipping Twine -
It's helpful to have a thin twine, ~0.8mm, and a thicker one for larger lines like dock lines, ~1.5mm.

Before this video, I'd never whipped a line before. Now I whip at least 3 lines a day. Thank you for all of your help along this journey!!

Great tutorial. Relaxing voice and very good filming. Silly question: does the tape stay on the line ?? I never thought it would stick on the long run!

Sometimes! If you use self-amalgamating riggers tape, the type that stretches and melds together, that holds on longer.

Thanks for the instruction. How thick is the black vs. the white whipping twine??
@LifeFourPointZero
@LifeFourPointZero 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason. I believe that thicker black twine is about 1.5mm. The spool does not have it marked but that's roughly the size. Good luck!
