Thanks for this tutorial! You have just demystified the carving process of a face in this video. I can now conveniently start the wood spirit carving I had wanted to do for a long time.

I think something's wrong with my wood because I've taken my knife to a professional sharpener and it still cuts terribly! I have to apply a lot of force to do the easiest cut, and stop cuts are impossible to do, the blade just doesn't go in the wood. Either I'm terrible, or the wood's too hard. Which it shouldn't be, it's basswood. :(
@WhittlingWoods3 ай бұрын
Some basswood can be hard, depending on where it is harvested. Also, if the bevel on your knife is to steep, that will make cutting difficult. Which knife do you have? 👍✌️

@@WhittlingWoods a friend of my dad's gave me one he wasn't using. I think it's from beaver something? It has nothing written on the handle though. Before that I was using my old swiss army's knife, previously sharpened (by someone who knows how to do it, not by me 🤭) thank you for answering! I wasn't really expecting it :)

@@lis_mayakovsky The couple BeaverCraft knives I owned tended to need quite a bit of work in my opinion to get them whittling ready! 👍✌
