How to win 2048 - 4 simple rules

This video shows how to win 2048.
You have to follow four rules:
* Use only LEFT, DOWN and RIGHT
* NEVER use UP, UNLESS you have no other choice
* Highest tile in the corner
* Other tiles in descending order

Hey there. Great video. I feel proud because I figured out this technique myself, although I tend to keep the highest tile on the top right or left hehe, symmetrical thinking. Started playing it 2days ago, and my highest was 2048+256. I thought, maybe it's mathematically impossible to go higher, hence the name of the game. Thanks for giving me hope. I'll try again.

I figured it out as well, but I tend to keep it at the bottom left. But I keep making mistakes by forgetting to lock the bottom row.

I do the opposite. I always use LEFT, RIGHT and UP (but never DOWN, if I can avoid it), but I had figured everything else myself.

So I'm slightly confused...I got the app yesterday, and I love this game, but I'm wondering on what my objective should be for each turn. I know the point is to merge the tiles, but should I be focusing on merging the smaller tiles or bigger tiles?

Hi! It depends. I usually merge smaller tiles first. Then I get bigger tiles and I merge them. Sometimes I have the bottom line filled with a small tile on left, like a 2 or a 4. On the second line maybe there is a 32. In this case I try to merge the 32 first.
