There is only one thing that causes real turtles and it is allies dying early while they control spgy but after shgy is tapped. The stretch between those two graveyards means that if you're ressing at one and trying to take the other you will have to fight through 4-5 res waves minimum. By the time you get to the spawn you're totally tapped and easy pickings, even with a huge numbers advantage. I've seen 30+ horde get stuck in sp bend for 40+ minutes vs less than half their numbers, because they didn't know how to cap a graveyard and just kept trying to push to flag. You could very easily graph a near perfect correlation between the number of alliance that die early and res at spgy vs the length of your game. Sometimes I feel like collecting all this data tbh. I've done it in classic for AB, where in pug v pug, the team that controls blacksmith first wins literally 98% over a couple thousand games. I've done it for eots in classic tbc, where the percentage of your team pushing towers correlates almost exactly with your win % over baseline. I'd like to do it more but mostly I just prefer not to pug.

Correct. Many horde do not play alliance so don't understand how bad the alliance area is. Sure, it's somewhat defensible but it's also a death trap you can't leave as an alliance player. If you wipe a bunch of alliance early the game will turtle, not because alliance want to turtle but because we simply cannot get out of the north once this happens. For alliance to cause the opposite to happen, we need to pile on ibgy and intentionally farm you trying to go north. All horde have to do is play aggressively too early and then the turtle is unavoidable based on how the map is laid out. So don't do that.

@@jeffwhittingham5314 Yeah I used to run premades way back in og tbc and we only ever lost one match to an ally premade in like 3 arena seasons worth of grinding out our honor gear. Horde definitely has the advantage in organised games. You can always get shgy while they cannot get ibgy, from there you need a bit of coordination though, because spgy is by far the hardest gy on the map to take when defended if you don't know what you're doing. More importantly you have to be able to organise yourselves to do it, which is 1000% impossible in a pug, where every game has at least 10 people who have been playing for 6 months and seen two, maybe three variations on av strategy trying to tell each other what the plan is, and their plan will never change regardless of what the other team does. When pugs are rushing the only way horde can avoid the turtle if they're trying to clash is clash late, and also hit spgy early. Unfortunately most classic players haven't figured out you can 2man balinda so they send all 40 in there and spgy goes untouched. They also clash way north of where they should, sending allies north before they need to, and when it's hardest. IB choke, or as Dwarflord calls it here, the triangle, is the most defensible overall position on the map, ibgy is nearly impossible to take and you're not taking anything around it while horde are resing there. The only reason spgy is harder to take by just pushing your head against it is the sheer distance that you need to cover.

The real way to win AV is to hope you have 5 giga chad rankers in your raid that are blasting 20+ dudes at a GY with sappers while everyone else thinks “wow we’re owning them”

NGL, if you aren't an Orc, the actual best strategy is to do the wolf quests for the whole game and get your Org rep to Exalted so you can get the wolf at rank 11 instead of the kodo or raptor. The minimal actual skirmishes in these games doesn't have you missing out on a lot of honor. Yes it is being a shitter, but your sanity is way higher when you just don't give a damn anymore. Can also do the Bal/LT's and spam the interact key for looting then recall back at the start for some rng flavor.

I been watching Horde "Tank" Van by hoping up and down on the walls in the boss room. Saw a Shadow Priest tanking him that way. Been countering with Bubble + HoJ and Seal of J stuns to "moderate" success

Blizzard never learns. I wish they would release a server with only WSG out for once, so we didn't have to grind AV for the 3rd or 4th time. AV should come out after BWL.

1 : stop the first attack of the horde in the first graveyard with the half of your team while the other half kill the first bunker , doesnt matter if u lose the fight if u kill some of them 2 : the horde only knows do the first attack so will try do a turtle , take his firsr graveyard then 3 : win the game

Do you think that the map in this version of the game favors alliance way too much? Removing the backdoor jump that horde could do makes it way too difficult to break Alliance turtles in their base. Also since the horde starting cave is where it is, the horde basically never get sent to Frostwolf graveyard so there's barely any risk of horde turtling in their base.

Preciate that every few years someone trudges out a "you too can win as Horde in AV" vid. But winning stopped being the point the day they took out the majority of elites. Folks attention span aint worth shit. "Oh, it takes too long to play a turtle." You know nothing John. I was there day 1. It was fucking glorious. Gaming thrives on the dopamine filled hype moments. Everything else is just a fucking grind.

I have good memories of those battles too, the difference is that you would be the outlier today. That was the norm a long time ago, but today you would be putting yourself at a disadvantage with honor compared to the usual strat.

I won about 10 games in a row this morning as a Horde Hunter on Offense by kiting the Marshalls. Just being able to read the map and know if/when we need to pull helps a ton. A lot of the time I was starting the pull myself and had a few times where I had 4-6 Marshalls running after me! Also, Yes Flares and Frost Traps work wonders on offense too! try to run up just to where the enemy team will start liting you up and quickly FD and drop a frost trap, and a flare to a choke point, then run back!

My group gets 7-10k a match in 11-16 min games playing defense embracing the turtle at least 20k an hour min. 3k Zerg ques is even more time in av overall. That strat was better for the rep grind but for honor as long as it doesn’t go over a 20 min game it’s kinda trash

Zerging is really hit and miss as horde. Usually takes one alliance hunter to fuck with the push on DB bridge and all the horde have no idea what to do. So I just pvp at mid/recall, I still get the same honor as everyone (Lts+bal and bunkers) else on my team + my kills so Idm.

Best way to AV is to farm solo honor kills and get 200+ honor a kill.

I always just go and sabotage the horde train, picking at the flanks and rear. There's always s couple of homies joining me and the horses we kill respawn into us again. It's a great little arena esque mini game at mid... And it's better honor anyway because you get global honor plus HKs... And you know, you get to PvP
