This video was probably the biggest game-changer for me. Both campaigns I've played, I've been forced into the fighter role (having allowed my friends I cajoled into playing to pick their investigators first). Knowing I should hard mulligan if I lack a weapon in the opening hand - really important.

I am really liking these videos! I just did a great job of mulligan-ing in The Devourer Below as I replay NotZ using this advice! Unfortunately, because of the results from the previous scenario, each player had to randomly discard 2 of their cards - and both my 'gator's discarded cards were the cards I had mulligan-ed successfully to get! Agh! Now they are in the discard pile. :(

Live your channel..it's helped me a lot in this game. I'm a fairly new player and bought the 5 starters to learn with while building my collection. I spent a lot of time with stock Harvey and Nathaniel in 2 handed solitaire and would have hard mulliganed Harvey looking for Celaeno / Whitton. I would have kept one two punch and tossed the rest for Nathaniel, looking for gloves. Gloves would help me get one two back. Only played Stella a couple times, but would have kept Rabbit foot and tossed the rest ... but much less sure of that call than the first two. I am a bit of a math nerd, and think the odds of getting what you want in a mulligan at different hand sizes and card counts for your target would be a great follow up video.

Top tier troll move would've been to have a mulligan quiz for Sefina. Harvey: Toss Feed the Mind and Arcane Enlightenment, keep everything else. He doesn't need money right now, but will eventually. Increasing his hand size is nice, but even with Preposterous Sketches, he'll be under his hand size. Nathaniel: Toss everything, including Grete. Even if Nathaniel mulligans into Boxing Gloves, he can't afford Grete. There's an argument to be had for Glory, but rather than draw 2 cards, mulligan into the thing you want to draw. Stella: Toss Will to Survive and Scrapper. Take Heart can get an early start on an impossible investigate, and Granny and Rabbit's Foot can help build Stella's fail engine.

I'd mulligan Harvey's starter deck for anything else

Great Video. I think that you should have also talked and took in consideration the money/resources (the 5 that you begin with) VS the starting hand (also based with the the overall deck average cost). For example: What means to keep a cost 5 or 6 card in your starting hand for the rest of your set up and future rounds

Harvey Walters: I would definitely keep the sketches. It's a card to enable his ability. Mulligan that away would be almost like mulligan away a Dodge out of a Diana hand. ;) Midnight Oil would depend on what I want to play out of the deck. Given we have the restriction to use his unaltered starter deck, you might go for playing Whitton or rather just the lab assistants. If I am in to play all his 3+ resource cards (not counting Extensive Research), I would rather keep it, because chances are, I will need the resources early on. Otherwise, I would mulligan it away, like the rest of the cards. Nataniel: I would certainly mulligan away Greta, unless I play him solo, in which case, she is the main mean to gather clues for him. She is too expensive to play early, and you are here to kill enemies, for which she only provides her static boost. Helping the cluever can be very useful to speed up the game, but not if you sacrifice or delay setting up the main thing, you are here for. I would likely keep Monster Slayer, just to have a sure way to deal with an enemy using my ability in the second round. In solo, I would rather mulligan it away, because odds that someone draws an enemy in first mythos phase are smaller, if there is just one encounter card drawn. And you should be able to deal with one enemy even without your "weapons". The other cards, I would all mulligan away, like you guys. Stella: Yeah, that's an easy one. Would mulligan away Will and Scrapper and keep the rest, just like you.

Definitely would toss Arcane Enlightenment. I'd rather have a hand slot item, of which we have none, than the ability to play a 3rd.

So what do you do with the good generic skill cards, like Guts or Overpower? Are you tossing those back automatically?

Something you didn't mention, but I think is worth saying, is that you never have to mulligan a weakness in the same way you do with the rest of your cards. Weaknesses are automatically replaced if you draw them in your opening hand, so if you draw one in your opening hand, you don't have to worry about it taking a valuable slot in your mulligan.

@@anaphysik There is also "The Hangman" from the Tarot deck, so yeah: Never say never. :)
