How to Winterize your Hot Tub or Spa

Can you blow the lines with the shop vac>? or only suck? cant you just blow the water out of the lines once the tub is empty and then take buckets or towels and drain it that way?

You can certainly use the shop vac to blow out as well. Whatever you can do to make sure there is no residual water in the pipes

Great video..thank you. This is our first year winterizing our spa. We drained all water from pipes , jets, etc but noticed clear tubing that leads to waterfall has about 1-2 inches of water that is trapped in u of tubing. Any suggestions on how to remove that water? If we can't get it out, will it be a problem over the winter? Thank you

Thank you for watching! That water probably needs to be drained from a circulation pump if you can or you can try and suck it out from where you insert the filters (or even blow it out too). Having a smidge of water is usually okay, but to be extra thorough you can do that.

What about draining the water heater, huh? If water is left in it, it will explode like a frozen pop can. You are out $750

My friend, the circulation pump is tied to the heater barrel, so when you disconnect the union there to drain it the water will flow out. The residual moisture will not be enough to blow your barrel or even displace the heater element.
