It seems most manufacturers need to sort their shit out in terms of providing harnesses for neg switched vehicles.... thanks for a very helpful video..... :)

Hi. I used your diagram and have managed to get my spot lights to work with the negative switched high beam in my mk3 mx5 but it then turns the spots on when the lights are off. Presumably due to it looking for the difference between the high beam and the power. Do you have any tips for this? Only thing I have managed to do is use a feed that is ignition switched at the fuse box instead of straight to the battery but this still turns on the spots when lights are off.

I had my light bar connected and working for years. Now I have changed from halogen to LED, now the light bar won't work. If I wire them in your configuration will they work? It's a 2000 Forester. More of a question than a comment.

This is such a fantastic explanation, thank you! How would you modify this setup to incorporate a three way switch so that you can select between being powered by the high beam and being always on regardless of whether high beams are on?

Great video.I'm going to give it a try. my light bar comes on with no light & side light too , it goes off on low beam & comes on again on high beam, and the switch led only comes on with high beam. my car is a suzuki jimney

If you have managed to sort it out how did you do it having the same problem with mine

Does this work with headlight bulbs converted to LED type bulbs ? It seems the high beam circuit doesn't bleed enough current anymore to trigger the relay or some LED circuitry is clamping the voltage down

Where does negative from lightbar go to

To negative contact on battery.

Hi mate i tried your wiring on my Honda crv 2006 without that extra switch. Id like the ledbar to light up when I'm using the high beam. It dosent work when I turn my car of, the ledbar starts. ITs impossible to wire the ledbar, I tried one more relay between the loop 85-30. That is suppose to open the circuit when I turn engine off to not give power to led bar from battery. I take the control current from the half light. But It still doesn't work. Im contacting the psychologist soon.

Hey man, I've got a mk triton swapped over to LEDS, now my light bar won't work, would this set up work with mine due to the LEDS being negative switched and my mk is positive

bridging 30 to 85 would mean the relay is always on right? whats the point of having the relay?

Keeps the light bar current out of cabin at least

It won’t be on until and earth is provided, that’s how negative switching works, always power running to the lights bit they can only illuminate when the circuit is completed ( by earthing ) This setup makes fitting spotties/lighbars a pain depending on the vehicle, often the hardest part is getting a high-beam signal wire sorted.
