How to wire and set up a Nest thermostat for 2 stage Daikin/Amana heat pump

This is for the ver 3 Nest and a 2 stage heat pump with emergency electric heat. This is not for units with gas or alternate heat sources or humidifiers etc. If you are unsure about any proper wiring consult an HVAC pro.

Wanted to give you a quick thank you. I just installed a new 16 Seer Heat Pump (Packaged) and was struggling getting the Nest to operate correctly. This video cleared it up and the new system is up and running. Thanks for posting it!

Sir, I am in Dallas Texas. I have a Nest Learning Thermostat (A0013) with a (Daikin) heat pump and just bought it (HP) because I got a GREAT Deal. I never wanted to use the heat Pump for Heat because gas is 1/3 the cost cheaper and is abundant. It cools very well. I continue to want to use the gas furnace for heat all the time and never engage the Heat Pump for heating. Do I need to TRASH this Thermostat for that to happen?

So when wiring it up 2 stage, what’s the separation on temperature between stages? Is that adjustable? And how do you get to that adjustment?

So crap I have the w1 only. And my system has a W2 or aux. do I need to buy a newer nest??

Did you set it up as gas or electric heat?

It is a heat pump so all electric.

Would Nest work with a Daikin 2 stage 80% furnace and Daikin Air conditioner
