Thank you!!! Your a life saver. After spending months trying to fix this same issue and asking experts at Lowe’s/ Home Depot, you solved my problem. No one ever said anything about removing the little tab on the power side. 🙏👍

@@dicanelectric hello, after all the videos I searched for, you answered my headache lol Mine is currently done exactly how you installed it, but I want to convert it to a gfci… is there a gfci plug that’s already set up for 1 dishwasher (always hot) and 1 plug disposal (switch)? I can’t see, to figure out which outlet gfci to get

Thank you for your video. Had it not been for the information you present, I would not have my dishwasher running right now again. The part about breaking the little tabs I knew nothing about and I would have been unable to make the fix without that information!

I think that's what I did wrong too. I really don't use my dishwasher but decided to run it to make sure it worked. I previously replaced the outlet above the dishwasher and didn't know that piece between the 2 hots needed to be broken. Now one of my kitchen lights and the dishwasher will not work. Guess I'm going to give it a go tomorrow.

Do we need to use GFCI outlet for dishwasher power supply?
@jims25073 жыл бұрын
Apparently that became code in 2014. Either a GFCI outlet if you can get to it easily, or a GFCI circuit breaker.
@Feldspar__2 жыл бұрын
Seems like you'd want GFCI for the disposal outlet because it's in the middle of plumbing.

Neither my dishwasher nor disposal work after switching things around but every time I turn on the garbage disposal my garage door opens up.
@sethlopez45668 күн бұрын
maybe im crazy, but my always hot is coming from the switch, when the switch is on. At the outlet there is NO power unless the switch is ON. Clearly its meant to be setup with an always HOT at the receptical, one for the washer the other for the dispose. I think the original installation was wrong, but is there any WORKAROUND i can do? Aside from fishing out wires and completely redoing the setup?

The outlet under my sink where the garbage disposal and dishwasher washer are connect has one plug showing open hot. I’m guessing that’s wrong. The switch that powers the disposal on and off is under there as well a few feet away. When I connect the disposal on one of the plugs 🔌 it stays on all the time. I’m guessing that’s where the washer is suppose to be connected to. When I connect it to the other plug, it doesn’t power on at all when I flip the switch. This outlet is connected with a GFCI that keeps tripping on a separate wall. Any recommendations on what I can do to fix this? Obviously my electrical knowledge needs to grow. 😃
@TEXICANROCKNROLL2 жыл бұрын
If I've done everything as instructed but the garbage disposal still doesn't work when plugged in, could it be possible that the circuit breaker fuse needs to be replaced? The disposal works if I plug it in to a completely different outlet so I know it's not the disposal itself

Dish washer goes swich leg 120v and disposal goes 120v always hot line right? Because disposal is hard on main breaker if its on and off ?

I replaced an outlet but didn't break the piece between the 2 hot wires. My outlet works and my disposal. However, the dishwasher and kitchen light don't. Could that be the issue, the small piece between the two hot wires that I didn't break off? Any help would be appreciated.

They delivered and installed my dishwasher yesterday. Due to depth space, (partly because of the electrical outlet on the back wall behind the dishwasher where it plugs in, the dishwasher is sticking out beyond the counter face about 3/4 to an inch more than it should be. Would it be ok installing a recessed outlet to make a little more room to slide it back a little further be acceptable? Thanks for these videos.
@ShelliLoop5 жыл бұрын
Lori A $$ recessed outlets are very expensive. Use a 90 degree 3-prong adapter.
@loramcclamrock55493 жыл бұрын
Outlet is supposed to be accessible (NEC 2017), should probly be in sink cabinet instead of in back of the dishwasher.

Ya how do you hook up a gfci to do that? Since no bridge on gfci so what gfci model # is it? Lol
@mattwalker627111 ай бұрын
he didn't say specifically, but I'm assuming this outlet is daisy chained off the GFCI load side above the sink, thus making this one protected as well.

What do I do if I have two white wires and two black my problem is I've had this disposal for 3 years no problems suddenly I flip the switch and the button pops in the plug next to the switch shutting down the circuit

@@mindycrispi586 I ended up rewiring it differently it was the white wire that was messing me up so I switched the white wires around gave the plug the disposal wire and vice-versa it ended up working.

Hm? ... All was going well in your instructional video ... except at the end! You left out going to your breaker-panel and turning the breaker back on. So that you could show us, ... that one outlet stays hot all the time & the other outlet is controlled by the switch. At any rate, you did show us the versatility of a plastic blue adjustable electrical box. So, maybe, this was more important to you?

Your using the wrong socket(15amp) on a required 20 amp wire and breaker. Also using those holes with 14 gauge wire is just dumb! That little blade touching the wire will arc and fail later... Always... Use the screws! Àlso any outlet in a bathroom or kitchen sink MUST use GFCI outlet... The outlet box should use metal grounded .
@mattwalker627111 ай бұрын
DW only requires 15amp for standard units. Also, he didn't say specifcally, but I'm assuming this outlet is daisy chained off the GFCI load side above the sink, thus making this one protected as well.
