This video is great!!! Do you have a video of "rails" being added to ceiling. This is an old house and the way the ceiling was done then was to add furring strips to the ceiling and then add the plaster ceiling that covered the furr strips. I appreciate any help provided. Thank you so much for creating this video.

Sorry I don't have a video of the rails being added to the ceiling because we didn't need to do this step. The surface above our ceiling was sheets of plywood so we were able to avoid the rails.

What do you do if there is no 2×4 joist. There will be spaces with nothing to nail. Right?

If there are no 2x4 joists to nail into, you'll need to add some rails to have something to attach into.

If you cut a much smaller hole in your caulking tube you'll get the proper amount out in your bead, then use a teflon caulkin tool to remove the excess and shape.. Also, I use window glazing to fill nail holes, it's paintable immediatly and will not shrink.

I'm going to use window glazing on the next project, I gave up caulking because shrinks, been filling and sanding for years.

We did not, we just applied the shiplap right on top of our texture.

You can install furring strips, then install the shiplap.

Room is about 15' x 12'. Just be sure to nail into your roof rafters (or put up rails to nail into) as mentioned in the video.

Our house is old and our ceilings are low but generally added 3/4" won't make your room look to small.

If your going to caulk or silicon.. spray your bead with soapy water before you tool it! Very clean lines 👌

What size nail did you use?

We used 2 inch finish nails, but you should figure out how far you need to go to get through all of the materials that you are nailing. For instance, we needed to nail through the shiplap, drywall and into the plywood on top of our drywall.

it wasn't really designed to do this because we have a single story, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt....I'm just not sure how much of a difference it would make.

Yes you totally could use quarter round if you wanted.

So much cheaper to scrape down the texture and repaint.
