Thanks for some great tips on hiding generators. I keep forgetting that the budget cost of generators isn't significantly larger than for connectors, so if I can make one of these generator/connector pairs and hide it, replacing several intermediate connectors to get the wire to the site, it's actually budget-reducing.

Great tutorial! Reason why the popcorn maker merge needs to be moved part way down is because the wire itself from the Gen to the popcorn machine is an object and is intersecting. You’ll notice it starts as soon as the connection point on the Gen sinks in.

I haven't tested with these specific object, but at 11:25 where you are connecting the popcorn machine, try grabbing the wire from the machine, then dragging it outside and reach the connector from the exterior. In many cases, the target detecting raycast for wire connection points will ignore collision with other objects. The initial wire grab uses normal collision, so you have to start at the end you can easily reach, but then some of the rules are suspended while you are snapping the destination of the wire. Good luck!

I donno, missed opportunity to turn that generator the other way in the lion statue heh. I do like the idea of the smoking hay bales, 'specially if you have a junk/raider style camp going. Not sure why it didn't dawn on me to sink the conduit into the generators. I have them sticking to the sides and thus the conduit is sticking out of whatever object i sink it into. Great... time to go back and redo my power setup in all my camps!

If you put the object on the edge of the switch stand on it and pick up said object from the bottom u can get the thing to go down father for merging

Great as always. I'm curious, do you have a favorite prefab? I find myself using seedy shed and blood eagle nest way too often. Makeshift mansion is climbing up tho.
@kikibplays2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm a huge fan of the makeshift mansion and mobile home trailer; the seedy shed is also a great all-rounder that I use a lot. Honestly, I have way too many prefabs and I never remember that most of them are there 😅

Hey Kiki I had a question! Doesn’t sinking generators into everything take up a lot of camp build space? I’m just trying to figure out best way to power all my stuff without using lol a 100 portable small generators😮
@kikibplays Жыл бұрын
Its a balancing act, and depends on what you're building. Small generators do take budget, so it's more a question of looking at how much power you need. If you're just powering lights in your structures, 2 or 3 small generators (strategically placed) will do the trick. If you're powering a lot of resource collectors and such, you might do better with one fusion generator. Just keep in mind that you'll also need budget for the conduits/pylons etc required to spread power around your camp.

Regarding the popcorn glitch, I did it exactly as it appears you do, and I observe that my machine seems to be powered - light is on, steam is rising - but the popper isn't popping and the device isn't producing any popcorn. Do you wire the generator you're sinking to the popcorn machine? It didn't appear that you did, but I can't figure out what I might have missed. EDIT: Okay, never mind; even though it doesn't appear like it, you do have to wire the generator to the machine. I finally managed to get the darn thing set up. Thanks for the tip!

I do wire it to the generator, sorry if that wasn't clear!

How do you fire the trigger plate so quickly without standing on it?
@kikibplays2 жыл бұрын
It's sped up in the video of course, but you just connect ot to a powered conduit (if you wire it straight to the generator it won't work). Check the little light on the plate; if it's green, you're good to go. If it's red at any point, just store it, then place and wire it again. I've got a video on the basics of merging that covers it all as well!

@@kikibplays Thanks, don't know why I never thought to power it. I just stand on it unpowered and trigger it to merge things.
