Call me crazy too- but that does sound like crazy fun. 220 different drills- thats a lot of locked up storage for a longtime . I use harbor freight most of the time because it works and is inexpensive. I have to say that was The BEST easy to follow instructional video on large canvas management I have seen. I’m So happy I have found your channel.

Hello, friend with the same kind of crazy! 😂 But yes, it definitely uses a LOT of storage. I initially incorporated Harbor Freights, but when I revamped how I kitted this one up, I needed something that was more space-efficient. Thank you for the kind words! I’m so glad it was helpful! ☺️ You’ll have to let me know if you decide to try a canvas like this. It really is fun!

I know this video is old, but before I found your channel, I discovered how to store my DP for the times when I can't have it out. I use one of those XL thick pool noodles and roll up my painting around it. It's really thick, so it doesn't hurt the diamonds, and it works wonderfully to "roll it up" when trying to work in the middle sections.

"Snack size kit". I love it! The first time I heard you say that, I had to go back and replay it. "Did she just say what I thought she said?" Yes, yes you did. I had to pause the video because I was laughing so much. I've finally gone back to creating these. Pre-pandemic, I had a craft table in my bedroom. After the pandemic started, my craft table became the job's double-monitor computer table. I finally quit that job, and promptly retired. I have my craft table back! And - yay! - a 50cm x 70cm just fits it. Love the pool noodle idea; I have a tendency to lean on my projects. I'll also look into the parchment paper.

You gave some great ideas for working a large dp. I especially like the tip about the pool noodle. I am currently working on a family portrait that is 120 long by 60 high. I got overwhelmed with it so I’m sharing it with my sister and one of my brothers. We are keeping track of how much time we spend on it and whoever is the closest gets to display it 3 months at a time. With a total of 6 siblings we all will get to enjoy it. I will send a picture of its progress when I see it as my brother works on it. Please continue with the tips and tricks of dp. I have been dp for about10 months so any help you can show me by is appreciated. Thanks from So Cal 😄

Thank you for sharing! I'm new to diamond painting and purchased my second project recently. I gravitate towards larger projects with my other crafts, so of course I go off the deep end the second thing I buy! I haven't started it yet (been strategizing storage and logistics of working on a larger canvas), but this was super helpful in figuring out how exactly to go about it (ie: pool noodle on order, starting from the furthest end and allowing the finished canvas to travel away from you). Thank you!!!

I’m new to diamond painting and, thankfully, found your channel and have subscribed. I just “sectioned off” a canvas for the first time and it really helps me to shrink it down to a manageable size. I’ve been practicing on smaller, cheaper projects and I’m waiting for my first pricier project from Diamond Art Club-very excited about that. In my other projects, I have been having trouble in placing colors and having to go back and place the ones I’ve missed. I’m more comfortable diamond painting by number/letter and doing all of the same color at one time. I’m trying to work on a grid area but it seems cumbersome to me. Any thoughts? Am I unrealistic as my projects get larger? Thanks for your help. Keep the videos coming!!!

Thank you for this video. I actually googled tips for a large diamond painting, and found this video. I have done five diamond paintings including a partial drill. I recently purchased Winter Angel from Dreamer Designs. It is 60 x 90 with 59 colors. I was very disappointed with the symbols they use, because many symbols are simply orientation variations on different colored backgrounds. Problem - I turn my canvas as i work, and I am color blind! So your recommendation of kitting up in a manner which stores and displays similar symbols together is absolutely perfect for me! You are brilliant! Thank you for sharing what you have learned in this journey!

@lindafinkelstein26322 ай бұрын
I so appreciate this video. Thank you! While diamond art on this scale may seem daunting or tedious, it actually is a more direct process and goes faster than does tapestry weaving. And it has a similar kind of beauty. The small drill size allows an image to have great detail and lovely color placement and progression. And to be spectacular tapestries made with yarn are at least 4'x4' in size. To create a small tapestry with detail, the weaver will use silk threads. Very slow and tedious... Josephine Walls produces fabulous designs! Making a selection from among them is a major decision given the commitment of time and effort to achieve completion. It is very helpful to get an understanding of the process of making a purchase from Diamond Art Deutchland, awaiting the kit's delivery, and caring for the canvas as it is being worked upon. Questions come to mind: I am wondering about the kitting up process given the 225 different drill colors. Which kind of containers and system do you favor for a project with 225 drill colors? How many trays of drills you set out as you work a 4"x4" canvas area? Do you work, for example, in a series of passes with 10 to 15 drill colors at a time? With consideration of ergonomics, how might you think about working around all four side perimeters of the canvas's edges and then moving in similar fashion inward? With so large a canvas area to be covered, the interior area would require a lot of leaning even if one were to stand when placing drills. Perhaps the ergonomics of working so large a canvas may have been addressed in another video. I am a newbie and just now noticing that this video was made and shared three years ago. With this in mind let me ask: How did your back, neck, and shoulders fare at the Completion ( congrats to you! ) of this huge, lovely effort? Have you decided that one such grand project is enough for a lifetime or have you decided to secure another such masterpiece kit? I hope to find any additional videos you may have filmed about this wonderful art piece! Any reply from you or others to the questions I raised would be appreciated!

Lots of helpful hints. Thanks. My first ever diamond art was a 100cmx80cm and I loved it. The advice about keeping it flat was spot on as I learned to my detriment, after completion, when I rolled it up when waiting for my frame kit, I found Rows of squished and buckled drills which was a trial to remove and restick. I am about to start a 2m x1m landscape. So, so excited. I will definitely apply the noodle idea plus other great suggestions. Think I might get a drafters plan sheet clamp to hang it up by when taking those necessary breaks. Please keep the great advice coming.

@zinniazen99239 ай бұрын
Hi love the tips. I’ve tried doing a few large ones but never completed one sadly. I had issues managing the size because of space. Not big enough space and was rolling the canvas as I was working. Like a scroll. However my diamonds would get squished and pop off. Glue would buckle if it was double sided glue. It would be a mess. And in the end I would have to throw it away. Many frustrations. I do love the idea of large canvases and still fantasize about doing them if i ever have a dedicated space. ❤ my best tip for new people to diamond painting is cut small sections at a time like 4-4 inch block leaving the rest of the cover on. And work in small sections. I found that the best way then you don’t damage the rest of canvas. I now only do ones that fit my table 😢 wish I could do larger ones.

Thank you for all your tips, I am thinking about getting a J Wall as I love her art work 🤩
@chrisgreek42855 ай бұрын
Hi Katie! I wanted to learn from you as I have a ginormous 90 cm x 280 cm painting on its way from JGS as we speak, and I figured I might find some tricks on your channel to manage the canvas when it arrives. I am doubting big time I can find pool noodles in our town, but was thinking that pipe insulation foam might work? I live in a remote town in the Arctic, so NOW it’s making sense why I would have pipe insulation but no pool noodles, eh? 😁 I definitely want to do a J Wall piece, but I am guessing that most of 2024 just got locked up with my A Mucha painting. Maybe my Wall piece will have to wait for retirement in five years buuuuuut I can’t see me having that kind of self-control. Perhaps what I should have said is “I will purchase my J Wall next year but will finish it after I retire.” ROFL Thanks for the tip about the edge of the table…. I would have NEVER thought of that! The other gold nugget - among the many you offered - is to hang my work at night. Brilliant! I have only done three pieces so far, with the biggest being 60 cm x 40 cm, so I covered them at night with my Pimpernell (hard board) placemats with heavy books on top as we have a cat. I do have a place to hang it nightly in a room that the cat never goes in (our barge room) so that will work really well. I am super thankful for that tip, because hubby and I could not figure out what we were going to do with it at night. I am truly excited to get it started, and some of the terror has been relieved by learning these brilliant tips from you; THANK YOU, KATIE❣️❣️❣️

I admire your courage in tackling a project of this size. Its definitely not for me, but I found your video very helpful in diamond painting in general. I like a lot of colors in my paintings, but 60 is about as high as I would want to go. That painting is entirely too expensive for me to give up on it if I didn't enjoy it, so I would be stuck and that would ruin the experience for me. I think you're doing an amazing job on it though. Thank you so much for sharing!

I only realised it was THAT big when it was delivered the next day (they deliver very fast here in Germany) and I was like ooops I guess I should've looked at the measurements before buying. :D Still decided to do it and soon bought a lightpad and many little containers. These things help a lot and I acutally don't mind the confetti. I've only done like 1/12 or something so far, but I am really enjoying it. Thanks for your videos, got a few good tipps out of them.

WOW that’s crazy fast shipping! How cool. I live in the USA so things take a week usually. Did you finish your zodiac painting tho?!
@sasakstn Жыл бұрын
@@EleventyThousand I finished it about a year ago. I have a video of it uploaded on my channel :)

My biggest problems are not having a table to work on, I'm working with the canvas on a cardboard roll into a board, of the piece I'm working on. If that makes sense. I love your organizing the drills I do similar. What really annoyed me the most is a code 2 and 5 or O and Q on the same colour square

Thank you for this. I have only ever done 40×30 cm's or smaller. I decided to splurge and buy my first kits from DAC. I didn't realize that these two kits are 65×65 cm's. I'm kind of hoping that I'm not over my head. 😂😅

I put the drill and counts into an excel spread sheet, sorted the numbers and then I new which colors needed larger containers. It is 134 x 89. It is a blank canvas and I am using Pattern Keeper.

Hi...I really enjoyed watching this video. I am new to DP. I have started on a 30x40 cheaper painting , to just get the feel of how it all works. I have a couple of larger ones to follow on with. I just wanted to ask you ‘do you seal your finished project’ . I have read various opinions on this process.... Kind regards Julie Andrews x

Hi Julie! Welcome to diamond painting!! How are you liking your first kit? I haven’t actually ever sealed one of my kits before, so I’m afraid I can’t personally be much help. But I know a lot of diamond painting KZbin channels have talked about different ways to seal paintings! Maybe do a search on KZbin and see if something comes up that’s helpful?

I love this video! So many helpful tips, tricks and ideas! Can you tell me how you made your labels for all the storage containers?
@DiamondsandWashi3 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa! I'm sorry for the (very) late response. The labels for this kit actually came with it, from the shop I ordered from. Otherwise, I use my Xyron Sticker Maker to make labels for my storage.

Thank you for this video Katie! (And all the other ones too!) Can I ask where you get the special washi tape from? Thank you! 💜

Wow! Very ambitious. I, also sort by symbols and color, rather than by #. I prefer symbols to be 123 ABC abc, but with so many there are bound to be lots of bizarre ones.

Wow that's so big!! I haven't seen one that big yet! I would need more room for that one! So it's been a few years since you've done this one. How long did it take you?

When working on a project this size could you seal the finished portion to prevent the drills from popping off when you are working on the next sections? For example, if you work on a painting for a few hours a day could you seal the portion you worked on and allow it to dry before you start working on it the next day or even later that day.

Just curious- What could I use instead of a pool noodle for my large diamond painting? I’m working on a card table.

I have not yet worked on a massive DP like yours. The largest one I have worked on is 23 X 31. I am hoping to complete it this weekend. i work on a folding table. It is my only table. I started this one from the bottom up but now I have turned it side ways more than halfway up and also upside down. I love how good the drills are sticking. I have noticed though that I believe the glue is making my nose run. What does double adhesive mean to a DP canvas?
@peggykoyle577 Жыл бұрын
Please tell me if you are working with this canvas flat or on an easel with the canvas angled toward you. I would really appreciate an answer!! Your videos are by far my favorite DP videos!! Love them!! PK

Just found your channel and love it❣️😊🎈. Love your voice, your presentation, your information!!! Subscribed!! I have a question! Am a newbie and have several DAC canvases! Neck problems! Want to get easel to put on desk! What size would you recommend??? Thank you and, again, love your channel 🌹
@DiamondsandWashi3 жыл бұрын
Hi Elizabeth! Welcome! I'm so glad that you're here :) Thank you so much for all of your kind words! Welcome to this super fun hobby, too. I'm sorry you're having some neck pain, that's unfortunately common. If you have the space, this is a tabletop easel that I've used in the past: www.michaels.com/artists-loft-all-media-flat-surface-easel/10280355.html If you need something a little smaller, I'd recommend looking for a lapdesk with collapsible legs and an adjustable angle, on Amazon - you can actually set that up on a desk! I hope that helps :)

How do you protect the areas you've already worked on while you're working next to them? I'd think touching it would get it dirty eventually or risk the diamonds coming off. I know with large cross stitch projects it could be an issue with getting the threads dirty or rubbed until they were a bit fuzzy.
@DiamondsandWashi Жыл бұрын
To be honest, if the glue is a high quality one (like this project) I don’t worry about if my hand or arm is resting on the sections I’ve completed. However, I prefer not to have a project going into my lap with completed sections, since I definitely worry about my torso rubbing against the diamonds while I’m leaning over. If you’re running into trouble with diamonds popping off, you can always lay down some parchment paper/release paper, or even something like a thin book to rest your arm/hand on? I don’t tend to worry about the diamonds themselves getting dirty because they easily wipe off. I hope this helps a little!

Where do you get the symbols that you put on your canisters? I've never got extra symbols, I've always tried my best to draw them out. I'm not a good artist
