Wow there are a lot of negative comments about this video. Let's not forget this is just a solo training drill. It may look hilarious but this is actually a good drill for a spontaneous pre-emptive strike to prevent an aggressor from striking you first. Does this mean you're going to be the baddest street fighter or MMA superstar after doing this drill a few times?... of course not! that's not the point! This is a drill to simply supplement the rest of your training no matter what style or art you practice. Sometimes you just want to get a quick workout in and brush up on some of your self defense skills.

Rather then cushioning foam I plan to use layered cloth sewn thick and in a quilted pattern until its nearly an inch thick then stuff it with dried out autumn fallen leaves until it is very very tightly packed and seal it onto a wooden stick figure frame.

@redsalem76867 жыл бұрын
I wish the dummy would have had sand in the base, kind of wierd when you have to hold your opponent up so you can keep hitting him.
@codereddefense7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nathan for your comment on this self defense video. We do have the version with the Bob Dummy's base filled with sand. We used the "half filled" version to demonstrate that when you strike, your attacker will change position and you will have to use your footwork to follow up with the rest of the strikes rather than staying in the exact same place. Take care and thanks for watching!
@zrgbrg10 жыл бұрын
One way would be to attach the dummy to a solid foundation, so you don't have to hold it up artificially. By holding it up you will ingrain this behavior for no good reason. Also, going full berserk on a downed enemy is not necessarily an ideal drill either. What is missing here is the context why you should basically attempt to kill your opponent - not goving the context is simply unaccapetable and can get you in more trouble than softer solutions, if you take going berserk as a general response to any kind of threat.
@aymeric99126 жыл бұрын
This is a drill. When soldiers shoot on targets there isn't always a context because its to upgrade there aiming. Its the same on this video. Its to aim better and have good reflexs

Really enjoyed it. Sure it's not a real fight with a live opponent, but that's a much more advanced drill - nothing wrong with this drill, as a stepping stone to build up to that. Not everyone is a natural fighter, and some folks need to take it step by step. Plus, if If you did those 10-20 second flurries as sets it would have some anaerobic conditioning value. What I see as the big advantage is that you're training gross motor skills - and when the fight or flight response kicks in, that's all you've got. You would probably adapt it quite a bit for a very small person (maybe introduce improvised weapons ?). Good drill though . Cheers !

Wrong typo sorry,,,,but unless ur opponent is a dead chump.....like budgdude0 says,,,unless u know what ur trying to do......self defense means defending yourself, u have a choice to get away from the confrontation, or get into it and solve it with skills and wisdom...what you're teaching is basically to murder your opponent when he's or she is defenseless already. Nowadays, tons of ppl on the streets have martial arts background or some sort of common defense. In wing chun, there's biu jee, fencing to the eye, neck chopping, kicking the groin. If u think continued striking can take down most bad asses in the streets, ur just gonna get into a brawl getting hurt both ways. If you think those continuous strikes is your best ways of defense, then be very prepared of how others will deal with this strikes...

Go to any mma gym and have a light spar with someone without the pam strikes and stuff and see if you can even get them on the ground for a start.
