How to work out what FUSE to use

You are doing the math, but you are making a dangerous generalization to say that, because you only have a 13A fuse at hand and it will not blow at the given amps, it is okay to use that fuse. A fuse should only be replaced with an identical fuse and only after the original fault that blew it has been determined and repaired. Even though you post in the comments that this video goes with a website tutorial, I find it iffy.

I completely agree with your comment "A fuse should only be replaced with an identical fuse and only after the original fault that blew it has been determined and repaired". However, this video is about how to calculate the fuse for a (non-faulty, possibly new) device to be used on the UK domestic mains where the only fuses available are 3A, 5A and 13A. As these are the only fuses available, then the 13A fuse is the correct choice. This is the sort of question that might be asked in a GCSE exam paper. I stand by my video but I do take on board your comments and thank you for your response, I will add a similar cautionary comment to my website page and tutorial.
