Very helpful. Thanks! I've totally never done this properly before lol For me, the tape helps prevent blisters on my hand

Where did you get that? I looked everywhere I couldn’t find it anywhere!!
@cemyaygin422711 ай бұрын
Grip tape was a game changer for me. I have a better feel how tight and how strong to hold. Thus forehand topspin and shot became much faster and more stable. Switch FH to BH and vice versa is much better. I have a thin handle and adjusting was more difficult before. It is also very good for my past tennis elbow with tape. Balance also better. I wish that I had grip tape earlier in my table tennis life.

Mate that was the best review of a grip tape ever. Like you just said everything it can do for you in the best way :) When it wares off then just take it off and play without it. You won't need it for the rest of your life unless when and if you change your blade to a skinner one then yeah put it on again.

thanks, but I will never switch back again without over grip even with thicker handles. Works also better with straight handles. @@dublintabletennisclub

Well... This video conviced me to acquire some grip tape. Love your content, bro! REALLY REALLY helpful. FYI: I'm doing a lot better with my push y and chop. Today was my first class practicing FH topspin. I'm getting much more confident with my strokes and that helps towards improving my technique. See you in other video!

how much extra thickness did it give you? I have an accoustic i love but its tiny handle is killing me
@dublintabletennisclub Жыл бұрын
Uhh yeah, I don’t want to sound negative, but experience wise it was easier for players to switch to flared blade But, in regards to thickness then it’s all about where exactly you want it to be. For me personally is bottom of the palm / below thumb joint so it feels stable for big shots and counter. But, that did reduce the quality of my flicks because it was irregular feeling when switching from flicking to normal. I hope that made sense 😅😊

I am looking to use grip tape to improve how I hold the racket because I started playing table tennis with this stiga offensive classic racket that has a flared grip. It turns out the central part of the flared grip is very skinny and it does not fill out my hand properly. I have large hands. Is there a way to apply grip tape to only the middle part in order to make a more anatomical grip, or do I have to buy another racket?
@dublintabletennisclub2 жыл бұрын
Yes there is. I suggest you apply the grip tape throughout the whole blade, but obviously provide more layers in the middle and only one for the rest. That will feel more comfortable than just applying in one spot. If that does not work then you can try to use a "straight" shape blade for the same racket. I use "straight" because I also believe due to my hands "flared" isn't comfortable. With straight shape I get to grip the racket in full like you would if you had a tennis racket or a round long piece of tube / wood etc Hope this helps :)
@michelerossi82382 жыл бұрын
I think that one of the main reasons to use grip tape is to rebalance the weight of the whole racket, in order to not make the blade head heavy
@dublintabletennisclub2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s a good point! I should of said that in my video :)

Can I apply a tennis grip? like one's from Wilson
@dublintabletennisclub2 жыл бұрын
UHHH!! Good question!! After a bit of research my only concern is that it will be too thick and you lose the feel for the big long shots and one bonus of having tt grip is that it wears and tears away. Which is a sign that maybe you need to step off it. That you have learned how to switch between shots! But, in theory it could work and honestly I would love to see it ha
@billmasvoulas731 Жыл бұрын
The edge that you putted to the end it goes to the start... You made the shape trick that already has it itself.. That the reason has glue to put it the start and the "sticky stiga tape" isnto close the flat side
@dublintabletennisclub Жыл бұрын
Yeah I see and know what you're talking about. I should of definitely show it how it is put on "properly" I did this way purely on the fact that I like the top half of the grip / blade to be skinnier than bottom half. Not like the bottom half it is bulky, but this way I feel more balanced in weight and when griping it from Reverse Pendulum serve

Do these grips wear out?
@dublintabletennisclub2 жыл бұрын
In a way they do. Meaning the black colour wears out into the grey material. But, in that case it means you should already be stepping off it and try without :) Also, the wear and tear could honestly take 1-4 years 😅 it all depends how often you use it 😊

If you’re using it because you like a thicker racket then it’s perfect! If you’re using it to learn to switch from forehand / backhand or mastering recovering your grip after serve then eventually I advise taking it off :)

Are there arguments to NOT use grip tape? I have grip tape on my blade right now but i've actually never played without it since i applied it right from the start. I'm curious if there could be any benefit and i should try playing without :)
@dublintabletennisclub2 жыл бұрын
Hey, great question :) 1.) Your specific benefit is that you will feel a quicker reaction to switching into correct grip position when you serve. 2.) Also, quicker and more lighter feel in flicking on both sides. 3.) There is a light faster smoother follow through on Forehand topspins, but not everyone feels it like for the first two things

No, that basically does nothing. Proper grip tape gives you a soft and filled grip in your hand meaning that changing from FH to BH is a lot easier. The grip tape would probably at best make your racket non slippery.

@@dublintabletennisclub As I'm sure you know (since you've seen a doctor) clubbing can be hereditary and nothing to be concerned about, but sometimes it can be a sign of disease. Glad to know you got checked out, and that there's no problem. The other good news is that, once the underlying cause is known, it is reversible. Not sure if that's the case with hereditary clubbing though.
