How to wrap the Ergon BT Bartape Series

Watched this video about a dozen times, and referred back to it another dozen, and my wraps came out pretty good for my first time. Very happy with how they came out with all things considered. Can't wait to try my new wrap and bars out.

Good one you mentioned that! Wrapping bar tape for the first time isn't easy to do as we all know from our first tries. So, take it easy and take your time...this is how it works best from our pov. 🥅

I just installed this tape and I like everything about this tape, the tackiness of the grip is spot on, the subtle design of the markings looks nice and is helpful for installing, and the thickness is super comfy. However even with minimal overlap the tape was not long enough for my 440mm bars. The packaging said gravel so I thought it would be long enough for this fairly moderate bar width.

Thanks for the video. I really like the grip and padding provided by this tape, especially for gravel ride. I did find that I could not tuck the tape into the bar ends and get the provide plugs to hold it in place. The provide plugs were just too small. Maybe my bar diameter is larger than the bars in the video? So I just cut off the tape flush with the bar end, and then added some electrical tape to cover the cut, tucked the electrical tape in, and used larger diameter bar end plugs. Not pretty but working.

Thank you, @Easy-3577 for the feedback here. With some bars there it could be like written by you, but this is about of no existing inner diameter - as only the outer diameter is standardized in the bike world (22.2mm). But the inner diameter of handle bars follows no standard. Therefore we recommend to increase the diameter of our end plugs in order to fit exactly. At this point there is no other way to get this solved as there are so many many inner diameters between different handlebar models/manufacturers. Thank you for your understanding.

This method will unwrap under twisting on the bar tops. One should reverse wrapping direction at the shifter.

Sorry, but we have to deny your statement here as we made different experiences regarding this. Even testing that by ourselves personally we've made complete opposite experiences here. Especially with the BT Pad Set beneath the bar tape there's no twisting or unwrapping so far. So, your feedback more about a suggestion or what's it about?

I assume that if I order a single package I get two rolls for both R and L?

Hello, yes that's correct. One package contains Bartape for both left and right.

In the video you state: Wrapping inside --> outside. In the manual it is stated: Wrapping outside --> inside. So what now?🤷‍♂

"inside -> outside" is the right direction...and unfortunately, there's been an error in our manual, but we'll correct that asap. The definition "inside to outside" is correct on both sides. That means on the right side you have to wrap clockwise (cw) ...and on the left side you have to wrap counterclockwise (ccw). I hope this helps to clear your understanding here.

Das lenkerband ist wirklich das mit Abstand schlechteste, das ich je hatte. Würde jeder Person die es noch nicht versucht hat anzubringen empfehlen, es direkt zurück in den Laden zu bringen. Es klebt einfach wirklich zu 0%. Ich war extrem weit mit dem Wickeln und plötzlich löst es sich unten wieder. Aber damit nicht genug. Außerdem hat sich der klebstreifen ganz am ende vom band gelöst, so dass der Kleber während dem anbringen sowieso ausgetrocknet war, was bedeutet, dass ich 30€ verloren habe.

Bitte entschudlige, aber weder all unsere Tester, Pro Rider, Ambassadoren haben ein derart schlechtes Feedback über unser BT Lenkerband bisher kommuniziert. Auch persönliche Erfahrungen bestätigen das: Weder dass es nicht kleben soll noch der Rest. Was wenig nachvollziehbar ist, dass Du keinen Crosscheck gemacht hast, ob es ggf an nur einem Exemplar lag. Und wenn Du Dich ggf einfach an uns gewendet hättest, wäre die Sache viellecht auch zielführender verlaufen. Auch für Dich. 😘
