How To Wrap Your Hatchet Handle With Paracord

I like the wrap pattern you chose. Plus, it's very simple. I am considering going to the local pet store, buying a rawhide toy, and soaking the rawhide to loosen it up. Then, cut it into strips and wrap the wet rawhide strips around the handle. It will definitely shrink as it dries. Only drawback I foresee is if it becomes wet in the field. Thanks for the vid.

To fix your twisty, slidey problem: After you have completed the wrap as tight as you can dip it in a pot of boiling water for about 10-15 seconds and then let it dry. The paracord should then shrink so tight it will be immovable. Has worked on some walking sticks and a bow I made. The bow was a little different because the wrap was in the middle and I did not have a pot that big so I just poured the boiling water over it keeping a steady pour lasting about 10-15 seconds.

Actually it doesn't shrink the paracord, the water sweels the wood handle

@@antoniskonstantakis5474 10 seconds in the water wouldn't swell the handle. Especially if the handle was well treated in boiled linseed oil before this operation.

Suggestion: try dipping the wrapped handle in hot (not boiling) water for about 10 seconds. That should shrink your cord and tighten it on the handle. Thanks for the video.

There is a trick put your rap handle in boil water for 20 secondes! the paracord will shrick like ciment! Find a piece of tubular metal, drill a hole in the axe handle. Grab some fiberglass epoxy and seal that into the handle. Do the same hole two palm widths away from the original. Find the center of your paracord, pull it through the handle hole and put through the next hole. Grab the ends and loop it through the loop at the bottom. Then start the wrap, it won't shift anymore and it looks the same. Easy to undo for a lean to shelter or whatever. Easy to put 🔙
