From my perspective, as a high school student, chatgpt free 3.5 version is really good in proofreading and checking clarity of the writing. I've never liked grammarly, it's basically useless except for some spelling mistakes. But chatgpt is great for those who can't afford professional personal statement editors. The point is to ask it the right questions.

Nothing is 100% in life. You can use their free versions which have limits but you can totally use. ChatGPT is completely free too unless you want the more advanced version.
