Learners of any language must master the skill of speaking to be fluent speakers of the target language . Speaking fluently is challenged by numerous factors and one of them is self- confidence . Students with self low self - esteem face many difficulties . I don't think the length of sentences determines the quality or amount of evidence. If an advisor has commented there is a lack of evidence, I think he/she is referring to content, not style.
