I hope you all enjoy my first songwriting video, writing in the style of Royal Blood was an absolute blast! Let me know in the comments who you'd like me to do next!

I'm only just starting out, have a lot of hard work to do before I'm deserving of big numbers! A long way to go yet, but every person that jumps on board I'm hugely thankful for. Things are all uphill from here. Thank you so much!

You absolutely nailed it. Mindblowing and so dirty sound I need to take a shower again. Sounds like a combination of King and She's creeping.

Thank you ever so much, the dirty Royal Blood sound is absolutely unrivalled for me! I can't wait to hear the studio version of King, blew my mind when I heard it.

Really good video mate. Love how you broke down all the tricks he uses for playing and singing at the same time. All the same things I had picked up on myself. You explained it all brilliantly though. I never comment on videos either but found this really impressive so fair play to you sir.
@JohnAzopardi3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a bunch! They're such a clever band, more so than I think most people give them credit for, it's seriously hard to get two instruments sounding so big, I'd love to revisit them now Typhoons is out and is such a departure from their original style. I really appreciate the support and I'm very proud to be one of your few comment recipients!

Well done sir! Loved especially the chorus where you hit the high notes smoothly in unison - very Royal Bloodish! Hats off and keep up the good work! My vote for the next video goes for Arctic Monkeys or Queens of the Stone Age!

Thank you so much man, that means the world to me! Arctic Monkeys I'm already on, QOTSA are literally one of my favourite bands of all time... in fact I may already have been working on a QOTSA song...

Honestly it freaked me out to no end when I saw the track listing, in saying that I wouldn’t be opposed to hearing their take on the song...especially given it’s produced by Josh Homme

I really appreciate that! The hardest part of putting these songs together is still writing things that long term fans will enjoy, so it means the world to me to hear you did! It’d be fun to come back and do one with RB’s new sound

Well done John, cover was fantastic, sound was spot on... amazing rendition... keep going... guessing you are using a DAW and getting your "amps" from there, rather than physical... what tech are you using?
@JohnAzopardi3 жыл бұрын
Thanks ever so much man! I've experimented with a few different combos of amp sims but keep coming back to Amplitube, then for heavier stuff I'm a big fan of the Archetype plugins as well. Funnily enough I used a lot of stock Logic plugins for this specific one, but the more recent stuff is Amplitube or Archetype!

Do some tool or led zep?
@JohnAzopardi4 жыл бұрын
patrick hanbury okay those are serious suggestions, I’ve been on a Tool binge recently, if I can somehow learn all the parts for a Tool song then I’m absolutely doing it
@jewelcheese4 жыл бұрын
What amps/software did you use for this?
@JohnAzopardi4 жыл бұрын
I mainly used Amplitube, but for this there were a few different amp sims running side by side, one of which was Logic's stock bass amp designer!
@drewdaugherty76133 жыл бұрын
Fantastic song! What is your effects chain for the vocals?
@JohnAzopardi3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million! For this one if I remember rightly it was quite heavily dependent on tape saturation as it sounded quite common in Royal Blood's music at the time. Off the top of my head it will have been Vocal Rider > FabFilter ProQ > FabFilter ProC 2 > SSL Channel Strip (Waves) > GW VoiceCentric (Waves) > Kramer Tape (Waves) with the tape emulator being hit pretty hard
