An argumentative essay usually uses evidence to present different viewpoints and leaves the reader to decide which they feel is more convincing. The persuasive essay presents ideas to persuade the reader to one (the writer’s) viewpoint.

You are a life saver! This video has helped me a lot with making my argumentative essay. I'm quite new to making argumentative essays and this helped so much. Just two questions though, is it bad if I'm citing 3 or more sources in each paragraph? I'm trying to make sure that I cite properly and have lots of evidence to prove my points, so that's why I'm citing so often. Also, do you have any tips for paraphrasing? I want to make sure that I paraphrase effectively so that I don't get accused of accidental plagiarism.

It can be either. If you show positive information it shows that you are open to other opinions.

This looks like a 4 paragraph model for an argumentative essay. How would you increase the number of paragraphs? Would you make each supporting reason it's own paragraph?

Yes, to write a longer essay you could write one (or more) paragraph for each of your ideas. You could easily follow something like this outline, each number being another paragraph: 1. Topic one 2. First idea about topic one 3. Second idea about topic one 4. Third idea about topic one 5. Topic two 6. First idea about topic two 7. Second idea about topic two 8. Third topic 9.
