There is that video on the internet where a guy writes absolutely perfect 楷書 with a ballpoint pen and it still blows my mind. I have no idea how I would even make those shapes with a ballpoint pen in a single pass.

Your handwriting looks so natural, it definitely motivates me to keep training! Personally, I find traditional characters so fun to learn, but I keep wondering if it's worth it, since most people use the simplified ones nowadays. I keep having questions in my comments, I hope it doesn't bother you. Do you learn from poetry? It seems to me that people tend to learn various poems, and I'm curious about it, but it obviously is more useful for more advanced learning. That being said, I know that children also learn a few so I was wondering if I should research those. Either way, great video!
@qiaokelimlk3 жыл бұрын
thank you so much! I mean, you can learn both hahah but that's very time consuming I know.. however what we do at university is: learn simplified ones by heart (reading and writing) however the traditional characters we only need to know "passively" which means reading :) and no pls just ask away everything you want to know! I'd be happy if I could answer some of your questions! regarding poetry.. we looked at one short poem until now, but my professors want us to focus more on daily language and conversation rather than written poetry... but I know it will be more of a topic in the next years ahead :) so if you only started learning mandarin, I'd listen to music or children songs or watch chinese videos/movies/dramas etc rather than read poetry 😅 but of course, if you're a passionate poetry fan.. go for it! 🤍

It's my university's book, and some stuff is explained mostly in German, however you can still use it for practicing the strokes :) These are the details: Zhōngguózì·Shūxiě (Han-De Ban) Lehrwerk für Chinesisch als Fremdsprache Brigitte Kölla Beijing: The Commercial Press, Mai 2009 ISBN: 978-7-100-06019-6

Your uni book is so much cooler ... in my book we don’t habe this practice grip ... at first we learnt like the basic stroke rules but than we need to figure it out ourselves and our vocabulary list is written so small that sometimes you can’t see how many strokes the characters has ... also this is at Frist very confusing because at my uni we learn traditional characters and not the simplified ones 🥺🥺
@qiaokelimlk3 жыл бұрын
ohh that sounds really tough 🥺 do you use any extra books for characters? if not I can recommend you a writing book which is actually in simplified characters... However, I was able to find the same edition just for traditional characters!! 😌 --> amzn.to/3eIk7jN it has so many details (stroke order, pronunciation, meaning, stroke number, hsk level number & more!) and it's actually very affordable! the only thing is that's in English, I'm not sure if there is a German version 😕

I mainly use our university's textbook and then I make my own grids in a separate notebook. As for the textbook I can definitely recommend you this one: McNaughton, William, and Jiageng Fan. Reading and Writing Chinese: A Comprehensive Guide to the Chinese Writing System. 4th ed., Tuttle, 2014. Hope this helps :)
"Reading and Writing Chinese" by William McNaughton! This is a book I can recommend to beginners as well as a bit more proficient mandarin learners :D Here is the ISBN: 978-0804842990. Hope this helps

Brigitte Kölla, «Zhongguozi - Shuxie» (中国字 - 书写) ,Beijing: The Commercial Press, 2009 It's a German-Chinese Version, so I'm not sure whether there is an English version. However, what I can recommend you is this book, which is an English edition: McNaughton, W., & Fan, J. Reading and writing Chinese: A comprehensive guide to the Chinese writing system. Tuttle (2013).
