Thank you Guy. It is amazing how quick you image the melody of each instrument and inmediately translate it to the keyboard.
Me: How many string libraries do you need? Guy: Yes.

I very much enjoy this series of videos. I know that they're reasonably brief, but if you could take a moment here and there to explain a bit of your thought process it would be even better. Happy Christmas, Guy!

@Sesaon33 жыл бұрын
Guy is using Elgato's Stream Deck. This allows you to trigger hot keys/short cuts - in this case he will have set up a short cut key for Cubase's "Retrospective Recording" which records MIDI inputs on the selected track when Cubase is running - hopefully, as sometimes it doesn't :-)

At 6:30 you say "as a lead line or as a counterpoint-y type line" and then you inadvertently play the first five notes of the Irish National Anthem in the correct key and with perfect timing, it gave me a good laugh.

That 1 wrong guitar note in the first section drives me nuts. Otherwise, great stuff. I'm jealous of how easily you come up with alternative melodies for all the instruments.
@gustafrindestal3 жыл бұрын
What whould you remove in this piece to make it work under dialoge without grabbing attension? I know it depends on the dialogue, but say a general christmas thing.
@thesoundvault5083 жыл бұрын
Probably just have those low strings humming and then for no dialogue or a transition/bridge/compilation/ending you can bring it all in. Just a hobbyist here though lol
@gustafrindestal3 жыл бұрын
@@thesoundvault508 Yeah That's probably how I would have done it. The glockenspiel takes too much attention. I would take away the melody so the dialogue can be the melody. As long as the dialogue is not in the same frequency as the music it's okay.

That was more like the opening scene from movie with bicycle rider.. not Christmas... half of that would have been enough with some sleigh bells.. that would have been more like Christmas.. Christmas is no complicated. It is a time to relax and things happen with simplicity..

Sorry Guy, that piece didn't work for me. I think it was the guitar, it felt like a sledge hammer knocking my front door down. It needed something a lot less harsh taking the lead. That's what Christmas music is to me, all soft and cuddly.
