Wow 😮 If I was a judge on one of those many talent shows, I'd have pressed the Affirmative buzzer or button as soon as I heard your first sung word 'Listen....' followed by some great guitar work and the rest of the lyrics and chords that I sensed were going to be great...and they were! I also like your positive introduction. You know you have the audience in the palm of your hand, in a sort of old-fashioned entertainer's way but still do the audience the courtesy of inviting them to listen - and they do!

Thanks for the comment Dave! Although I'm not sure it was intended for this video...

Lydian is my favourite mode of the major scale. I've always been a bit of a spaced out daydreamer (inattentive ADHD), and a bit unstable 😅

great video! Stil wonder how do you traduce your feelings-ideas into music, how do composers chose their chords and melodies to represent so many layers of colours, feelings, ideas and sensations, many times even in such an abstract way that I dont understand where is the border between a language with its own gramatic and a mix of mathematics and frecuencies ordered by a rational mind.

It's a difficult one to answer! Each composer will be different; drawing on experience, knowledge and inspiration/creativity to different degrees.

David Bennett insists that "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac couldn't be in Lydian mode because of the shape of the melody, even though the chords of the song are consistent with I and II in the Lydian mode.
@WriteASong Жыл бұрын
Yeah you need to take into account every part of the song. And even then there is some subjectivity with modal music.
@kodowdus Жыл бұрын
@@WriteASong I noticed that David B just doubled down on his assertion today, essentially saying that "Dreams" is clearly not modal because at one point an A minor chord shows up instead of the "looping" F and G major chords.

@@kodowdustheory is subjective- so even though we have some agreed upon definitions: Lydian, Major chord, etc., it’s not a science. Sometimes you learn more about the analysts ear than the songwriters intent.

@@aaronkandlik To me, the version linked to below is distinctly in an Aeolian mode, and the original is distinctly in a non-Aeolian mode, by virtue of factors that have nothing to do with the melody (which is identical, as far as I can tell). m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGKyqGqPqq6JeKM
