Hey Sam, BIG fan and I’ve watched literally every one of your videos and can’t get enough :-) Question re email outreach. Prospecting and finding contact info is lower risk to outsource but (like you), I like to handle the email outreach so that I can personalise it and make it genuine and less spammy. How long does it take you in MailShake for example to schedule/send 100 emails out (after importing your list, setting up a template) with some personalisation on each one? Like to know if I’m REALLY slow or about average 😁

As Sam pointed out, it’s helpful if you can provide something truly unique. Just like in academia, original research is more likely to get published in an academic journal and garner more interest. If you feel you need to cover a topic that’s already been written on countless times, then approach that the same way someone in academia does as well: 1. Provide some measure of original research that validates the current thought (or goes against it). Back it up with hard data and be prepared to defend it like you would a dissertation. 2. Put a spin on it. Think about what your favorite educators/influencers do when they talk about a topic that has been covered many times: own it and make it yours. The way Sam talks about how someone could get his attention, provides a well produced video, and always adds a bit of humor is what makes watching a topic we’ve likely all read/learned about before still enjoyable to consume.

Hi Sam, What are you thoughts around if these outreach emails fall under the CAN-SPAM Act? The relevant quote from the SPAM Act - " It covers all commercial messages, which the law defines as “any electronic mail message the primary purpose of which is the commercial advertisement or promotion of a commercial product or service,” including email that promotes content on commercial websites." Essentially the cold emails covered in your video are promoting whatever site you link and usually those sites are affiliate or other commercial sites.

I get variations of that intro template all the time! Often times their page isn't relevant at all - it's so bad I have to assume it's mass sent out without any of the personalization you mentioned at all. There's only so many people to reach out to in a given space... why burn bridges so quickly?

Generally speaking, the easier it is for you to create the link (or for anyone, in fact), the less valuable those links are. And if I'm not wrong, links from places like Medium are generally nofollow. - SQ

Traffic has nothing to do with value. Value is what the person linking to you gets. For example, you have a better researched, better designed piece of content. Or you found a broken link on their site. Etc. I'm sure you can think of something. - SQ

Hey Sam, When doing cold outreach on behalf of your clients. When email should you use? Should you hide the fact you are contacting them for SEO purposes. Do you want them to know you are contacting them from ahrefs?
