I have a question, is deductive method can be applied in the body of the background of the study?
@chukwuebukaokafor4216 Жыл бұрын
This is really a life saving information. I really commend the job-well-done. However, I have a question that stems from the premise of the previous video on the "Opening Paragraphs of the Background of the Study". IF THE OPENING PARAGRAPHS REQUIRE THE AIM OF THE RESEARCHER AND THE THESIS STATEMENT, DO I STILL NEED TO ELABORATE WITH LITERATURE FINDINGS ON THE TOPIC WHEN WRITING THE BODY, AFTER I HAVE WRITTEN MY AIM AND THESIS STATEMENT IN THE OPENING PARAGRAPHS?

You said in part 2 that the research problem or gap was: ‘’Mathematical anxiety negatively affect not just the academic achievement of the students but also their future career plans and total well-being. Also there no known studies that deal with the mathematical anxiety of junior high school students in New Zealand.’’ I'm confused!

what about if we don't have to interview in the research? I mean, in my case, my research seems like it only has literature reviews (books, articles, news). -sorry for my limited English.
@PHILOnotes3 жыл бұрын
As I mentioned, we may or may not interview. That depends on your situation. So, if your sources are books, articles, and news, then just refer to what the author says. So, in this case, your proof can be in a form of a literature review.

Nice to meeting your lecture here. I'd like to ask about "initial interview". Is it suppose to provide data or proof that will empower the research gap? I put in my Intro but as an excerpt but it is still questionable as I have to find previous research that conducted similarly that way. Can you help me to suggest some research that accessible regarding this initial interview? Should I deliver it in narrative way?

I suffered from Mathematical Anxiety during my Elementary school, and it was very difficult to break free from the fear to fail, and the anxiety of being stupid when it come to math subject, and the hopelessness to be good at mathematics. It starts when my teacher gives me a problem solving test that I have no idea how to answer, and because of that my classmates laugh at me while I am standing in front of them, and when I look at my teacher eyes, he was starring at me like he want to say that I am idiot, stupid and useless. I told to my self that it is not my bad, because during his discussion he just merely explained the topic and didnt explain well the detailed part of the topic on his discussion. I admitted that I am very slow leaener at math subject, and I considered math as my mortal enemy among other subject. That time, my personality chaged, I was so ashamed of my self and ability. I started to over think every time in every math classes, my confidence to be active at reciting get lower, every time my math teacher is asking me to answer the mathematical problem in front of the class, I felt so shaky and a lot of bad thought flashing in my mind. I start to be unproductive, I become lazy and alone in loneliness. I brought that personal view of my self until my High school, It was very hard, because some of my friends are confused about my behavior, and I felt very different from other. I hate watching my self on the mirror because I felt very sad of how weak I am. The bad thought and depression consumed my life.😖😖😖😖😖... The lesson is, be brave to face your fear, because if you ignore the fear to eat your mind an dream, your entire life will be miserable and full of doubts. 😟😳😔

What if my study is quantitative and I am still busy writing up my research proposal, do these rules of writing the body still apply or do i mostly use what you said needs to be in the first paragraph?
@violetviolet2042 жыл бұрын
Hey..I believe body follows after conducting interviews right? Cause I'm still busy with the research proposal.

How many words does the background of the study should have?
@PHILOnotes3 жыл бұрын
There is no universal, one-size-fits-all rule for that. What is important is that you have fully developed your arguments and all the necessary part. But for sure, you don't have to make it long. Normally, the background of the study that uses Times New Romans, double-spaced, 1 inch margin all sides of an A4 paper, is just between 3 and 5 pages. I hope this helps.
