In this video I demonstrate a basic carburetor tune for the Yamaha PW50 by adjusting the air to fuel ratio.... Before any adjustments are made the airfilter must be clean and the gas fresh also the bike will need to be "fully" warmed up and on the center stand. Because this was a demonstration the bike in this video was not fully warmed up.... To test the adjustment the throttle is being held wide open for several seconds checking at what RPM range it cuts off, if you introduce too much air the bike will cut out on its way to top RPM. Note: When you find The Sweet Spot you want to then turn it in a sixteenth of a turn to avoid any damage

I just rebuilt the top end and upgraded to a 60cc piston and cylinder, noticed I had to adjust the carb right away. Raised the idol and had to adjust air screw as mentioned in video from higher compression. Good vid 👍

We just finished the 60cc upgrade and you are right is worth the money and we did a break in of a full tank of gas and adjusted the carb and we have an improvement of 10 mph with my fat ass in it and my 130 pound son it goes 13 mph more real nice for the little rocket 😂

Great video! I play hell every time we ride the pw keeping it tuned perfectly… I had to bump up two main jet sizes to to get it to clear up after switching to race fuel and a couple other mods (within the rule book of course 😅)

Ohh yeah they can be finicky..... The airfilter is super important. Every speck of dirt it collects has as much of an effect as adjusting the fuel/air screw or even changing jet sizes 😂

What year is this bike mate? I have the 22 model here in Australia and it doesn’t have that air screw in the carbi. However it has a brass fitting with a 1mm hole in the Center.

I have a 65 main jet running premix 40:1, at factory 1 1/2 turns out it’s incredibly way to lean, possibly starving for fuel somewhere or air leak?

60:1? But isn’t that just gonna make my lean condition worse? I’ve read articles a lot of guys run premix 50:1 or 40:1 with a 65 main and never have an issue…it seems like my bike is running way to lean with 65 at 40:1 which is making me believe I’m sucking to much air from somewhere?

@codmw2man1 I can't tell you wether or not you're leaking air but technically the more oil in the gas the heavier it is making it harder to suck up through the 65 main resulting in lean running condition. Some describe this as trying to suck up a thick milkshake through a tiny straw as opposed to a large straw, and the thickness being how much oil was added. Also the more oil that is added creates a lean fuel/air running condition due to the oil taking up space of the fuel if that makes sense 🤔. What you're referring to is richness of oil in the mixture, the more oil you add the richer the mixture is with oil. As for the air leak this would only be happening if it were leaking beyond the carb so if the carb is seated in the boot and the boot looks like it's in good condition with a good seal you're not getting air by the carb. Also did you do an oil pump delete? Or just cut the supply?? 🤔

65 and 1 and 3/4 turns out on the airscrew

I drilled my plug out 20 minutes ago to access that screw …. Bike won’t idle anymore…. Never touched the damn screw. 😂. Was idling fine prior to removing plug.

Sounds like removing the plug turned the screw in a little bit.... If the screw is too far out of adjustment the bike won't idle, what you have to do is turn the idle way up or hold the throttle by hand and dial in the air screw then you can return the idle to normal!!! Hope this helps ✌😁
