Using a good bore sight laser is the easiest method. Just make the 2 red dots become one.

That will work too.

What’s the best bore sight laser?
@djblvd70923 жыл бұрын
That’s just to get it close, you still have to dial it in manually after. Bore sights don’t account for bullet drop. Laser comes out of the bore straight…bullets come out traveling in an arch shape, going up and then dropping back down by the time it gets to the target.
@Strawman3332 жыл бұрын
The laser method might get you on “paper”, (depending on the distance) but you’ll have to do some fine adjustments in the field to accurately sight-in the red dot/scope.

I did it at night using a security light on a pole as the reference point. When you see the James Bond barrel rifling effect with your light at its center you center the dot on that same light.

Maybe I didn't understand but there's no way you put the bullseye through the barrel and the bullseye through the red dot together. You will get close to a correct windage alignment but vertical will be way off. The RED DOT should appear above the barrel image by the same amount as measured from center bore of rifle to center of optic. This will get you close if you have 25 yards of room at your house. Remember...gravity acts on the bullet once it leaves the barrel so the barrel has to be pointed somewhat "up". On an AR-15 with standard ammo, the bullet will hit the bullseye at 25 yards (going up) and at 100 yards (going down). This is a 25 yard zero. Many experts believe a "36 yard zero" is the most effective way to go.
@freddietellez87373 жыл бұрын
I do it the easy way bore lazer 50/200 target at ten yards in my house then hit the range. Also did u ever get a 1:7 upper to review if not I can send u my new fnh dmr II 18in upper and I also have a colt 16in carbine 1:7 upper as well so u can have a better comparison.
@PracticalAccuracy3 жыл бұрын
Working on a 1:7 and wow what a generous offer from you. I won't be able to get to the range for a few weeks, but if you email me, we might be able to work something out. Thanks for watching.

I want to have red dots and irons together. A flip up back up and fixed front. If I do a 1/3 should I zero the red dot and front sights only. Then turn of red dot to zero the back up and front?
@PracticalAccuracy2 жыл бұрын
Flip up the rear sight and then zero the iron sights. Then turn on the red dot and move the dot to the tip of the front sight. You can then fold down the rear sight and zero the red dot sight. Hope that helps.

Am I crazy but shouldnt the distance be mentioned that the site was zeroed at? Is that paper on the wall 10, 25, 36 yds away?
@PracticalAccuracy2 жыл бұрын
it's 25 yards, but you can do it with whatever distance you like. The farther you go, the harder it gets to get close to your zero. Thanks for watching.
@davidparisi62578 ай бұрын
25 yds seem a bit close, I always thought you were supposed to Zero at 75 to 100 yds

can I use this method for red dot sites on a gun that isnt AR 15?
@PracticalAccuracy3 жыл бұрын
You most certainly can. Thanks for watching
@ErikS3083 жыл бұрын
As long as you can pull the bolt and sight through the barrel. If you zero at further ranges do at 25 and then fine tune for your preferred range. Because the bullet travels in an arc and the red dot height over the bore you will have to adjust the elevation at longer ranges to make it perfect.
@PracticalAccuracy3 жыл бұрын
@@ErikS308 Good point. It would be hard to do on a lever action or shot gun. lol

He showed us the exact same target twice. Compare 3:34 with 6:49. Did his second pair of shots go through the same holes made by his first pair? 😅
@PracticalAccuracy2 жыл бұрын
It is the same target. I took 1 shot with the first method, which landed closer to the middle of the target. I took 1 shot with the second method which landed further from the middle. 2 shots total, not 4 shots. Hopes this clarifies your confusion.

Easy way red lasser bore gage. now 5 feet from a wall. measure center to center of the bore to the red dot. Now were the lasser it pointing put a dot directly up the dimension you measured center to center. Now get red dot to align with that. Boom you will be on paper nothing flat. Now 100 yards you are going to have to make some adjustment.
