Probably because Tony wanted him to understand that people are going to judge him based on his name, and that his father is Tony Hawk. He wanted him to embrace being himself and finding his own style. It's quite fucking awesome if you ask me. Riley is his own, and I dig man

IT's true, when you have money you definitely tend to hold out for the "coolest thing" rather than just "getting a job". I've been facing the same dilemma in my own career, after raking in a decent amount and being able to sit for a little bit and think, I've just been kind of keeping up with the network, keeping my chops in gear and waiting around. Eventually something did come along that is pretty decent, it is a bit of a challenge because the pay is different and I have to potentially wait to get paid rather than it being guaranteed, but the connections that are there are extremely good and the experience will also be a step up. It's good to stay busy, and who knows when you can make something into a "thing". Sometimes work is work, and work is what pays off *later* rather than now. The business connections he will have made from doing this will pay off much more 20 years from now when he's maintained his relevance in the industry rather than floating away in the nether.
