Thanks for addressing the research - the demographics you reach are pretty broad. I started in 86, and mostly lost touch with videos and compiling encyclopedic info about my sport by around 92. After that, skated ramp with a tight crew of friends. I tuned out. 9Club and HvW help me tune back in, great episode - silly as it sounds, Chris you’ve got to get H & W on your show.

You can never knock a guy who has passed away, never in public. Keep it to yourself and your private company. So I really hope Tony didn't meant that. Especially because Hawk has been coming across as a really nice person lately. Unlike he seemed in the 80's and 90's when he often came across as a dick. Grosso is Legend, we all know this man. Love letters is fucking CLASSIC. Long live punk Skaters like Grosso, FOREVER ✨🤝✨

Can't believe Crob did an interview - and with Tony and Jason of all podcasts! Awesome interview and thanks to Crob for coming out of his shell! Awesome spoilers too - will be very cool to see Cudi on, big fan of his music in my younger days. Another suggestion for that big contact list Tony's got would be Lupe Fiasco in relations to rappers+skating. Would be cool to hear his experience with skating - if any. Also would be cool to see the skate world pay him back a little love after all the hate he received after making that Kick Push song. Could be a cool guest to see on the nine club as well/alternatively. I always loved Lupe's music and felt as though that Kick Push song was relatable and made for skaters
@deadbeat-vc9kg Жыл бұрын
Lupe wrote that song about his friends, not himself. They were kicking and pushing, not him. He tried skating, but like many, didn't want to take the punishment it takes to reach a gnarly level. I don't think he was being a poser. I think his will was too weak to continue like a lot of people. One bad slam and a lot of people get scared and quit. Lupe's a quitter, not a poser. 😁

It's interesting how The Nine Club is a show by skaters for skaters, and Hawk vs Wolf is by skaters for skaters, but they are two completely different shows that reach different audiences with the Skate Obsessives as overlap. Funny how we get plenty of Crob from the Nine Club, but I found myself wanting to hear more from him, about him. I watched every commercial because it's the LEAST I can do to support the show, from which I have derived HOURS of entertainment, intrigue, and inspiration. Eillis is hilarious--Circus clown nuts 😆

Yeah Jason is hilarious. He’s lived in the states for so long, yet I see/hear his intonation and delivery as so uniquely Australian. That closing gag line about singing The Cure at the start of the show the case in point. “I’m fkn outta here” 😂😂😂

The historical value that The Nine Club carries is true and important. It is really really cool to see the "old men" that many of us admired, at times emulated (or tried to at least,) and maybe even fortunate enough to have kicked around with at EMB, Rotation Station, or The Turf. I am forever grateful to skateboarding for enriching my life the way it has. Skating is one for the few things I have done in my life that has notably changed the way in which I observe and interact with the world around me. Lifelong friendships were forged. Exposed me to musics and foods that, if not for skating, I may not have had these profound discoveries until much later in life, if ever. The independence and self-reliance that skating taught me some thirty-five years ago not only serves me well today, but perhaps negated those inhibitions that would have otherwise delayed or prevented me from experiencing all of those "extras" that came along with skating like different musics and cultures. Anyway... great interview. I applaud all of you for what you do for skating.

I wasn't even into skateboarding at the time, so he was just a cool artist guy around town to me. I got into skateboarding just a few years ago, in my mid 30s. When I learned that Brian had been such an influential skater I was floored. He was such a nice dude back when he lived in my area. I'd love to hear him come on Hawk vs Wolf or The Nine Club and talk about the skateboarding glory days.
