@@Pidalin Well in my opinion it's actually quite simple, they don't mind the place, if only the beer is significantly cheaper then in their local pub. A thrill of going abroad from rural parts of their home country to such an exotic place as capital of "Eastern" European country is just a bonus. Additionally theirs destination perceived exoticity makes them feel that behaviours they wouldn't ever engage in (or even accept) on a town square in their home city, suddenly in Prague (or any other stag party destination) should be acceptable or at least unpunishable. That last part is unfortunately not far from the truth, thanks to the inability of law enforcement services to properly deal with this kind of situations. Sorry for the bitterness, but I really find it disrespectful and humiliating, when some guys go abroad and treat that place as some colony where they can get away with anything they do.

And you can buy bottled beer in supermarket even in Denmark, you don't have to spend another 300 eur for weekend trip to Prague. You can get drunk from few beers, it can't be more expansive to do it in your country than travel 10 hours in bus to Prague. Try to be as respectful and little disruptive as possible, it means waiting a few seconds for your picture instead of blocking everyone, leave space at the metro/buses/trains/trams for the locals(specially the elderly)instead of occupying 4 chairs with your luggage, do not block stairs and hallways while you try to figure out your way, just step aside for a few seconds(I do it myself, it doesn’t hurt ), doesn’t assume that people are there to serve you, a lot of them are in a rush or don’t speak your language; rather, try to be polite and learn BASIC words in the local language, such as HELLO, PLEASE and THANK YOU…a little gesture of good will that goes a long way… A love tourists, I really do. I know not everyone can spend a month abroad, but it's quite an experience. It 100x your chances of meeting locals and experiencing the city as one of them. Second tip: to all the lovely people coming to Europe from overseas: spending your holiday in a single country looks for sure less interesting on your instagram, but makes for a much better (and relaxing) vacation. I took so much advice from this channel and had a wonderful time in Prague with ideas from it. But I did go to KFC there to see what Czech KFC is like. I try to see KFC in every country, and I still remember being served these interesting crisps instead of chips there as a vivid memory.

I love your videos. Have been some 25 times (lost count) to Prague, it is by far my favourite European city. Have never climbed a statue, and have no plans to do so. Your videos have cheered me up no end while we were not allowed to travel anywhere these past two years. My husband and I were back last autumn, and I hope to make another visit before Christmas. Keep up the good work.

Lived 6 months in Prague and i can tell that public transportation is awesome! if the sign at the stop tells you your arrive in a place in 8 minutes, you'll be there in 8 minutes, no matter what

I still carry the fact that in my 2 months in Belgium. I got asked for directions by Belgians 2 times as a batch of "not looking like a tourist"-honor.

Stag parties and hen parties are the worst thing about Prague. I like to relax in the beer garden at Letna, but as soon as they show up, I leave. They always ruin the atmosphere for everyone else.

As a tourist, its best to meet with the locals, go to local bars, book your own tours, etc. Much more enjoyable and you learn more about the people, country, and culture.

I live in historic part of popular tourist destination in Southern Spain(Malaga). Almost everything you say is very true. But I been always suggesting tourists to explore city with hop on/hop off buses. First, they remove the need to do proper research about popular hotspots(not everyone likes spending hours of research and planning during vacation). Second, due to growing population in city centers, public transport is getting extremely crowded. Third, the price, it might sound a lot, but is it? 1 day pass in Malaga costs 25 euros, it includes also free pass to Car Museum(9eur) and MIMMA(5eur), both awesome places to visit. Public transport fee: 10 times ticket costs 8.70eur, due to short rides, 10 times goes quite fast. Using taxi or rental scooters will rack up quite heavy transport expense., FAST. Might be different in Prague as the city is bigger and traffic jams are longer.

To the number 0 of this list I think we should also add: consider visiting Any Other City in Czechia, other than Prague. Like, spread the Love, don't just hug Prague to death!

And this one other city should not be Český Krumlov, because it's also a tourist trap.

We visited twice in the late 90's. Had a super-awesome holiday the first time. We had literally no plan for hotel or anything, just 4-5 days and a travel budget. Took a bus for 20 hours from Norway, and befriended a local on the way down. He set us up with a really friendly elderly lady who lodged us (3 guys) in her house on the outskirts of Prague. We were so lucky I still can't believe it, like 30 minutes away from the city center by bus and metro. She made us tea and had these sugarcubes shaped like aces and spades. From the house we had outlook over the hills into the city centre. Taking the public transport really made us feel like locals. Even got a ticket for missing to buy a ticket once! ... What a great time
@Lisasplace2 жыл бұрын
i will say, for big places that don't have proper (or just plain expensive) outside public transportation, i do really like the hop on hop off buses. The ticket is for 24 hours and allowes you to quickly scope out if the [enter place] is for you or if you can skip it. Granted I now learned there is a tram in Prague so instead i'll take that one
@AlaskanTiger232 жыл бұрын
There's a tourist tram in Lisbon, too, but it's a massive spot for pickpockets. I'm curious if the one in Prague is the same.

We have been over 17 times now to your beautiful country and city, long walks, metro and tram rides to different parks, train rides to other towns/cities but walking through old town square has become a minefield in ways. Loud, drunk and rude tourist most of which are English and all I can think is wow give us a great name. I honestly start to feel a bit embarrassed, I even saw those beer bike things but in a boat form, I mean come on! Overall though they are drowned out by the wonder of the country and city, still finding things to do since our first week there in 2015. My advice, see the tourist sights maybe once or twice then start to explore parks, surrounding places, different towns/cities but most of all be kind, considerate and peaceful. Thank you for this video guys! P.S Those hop on/hop off buses man! My wife has to put up with me every time we are in Prague getting way to angry at seeing people riding them, come on just walk the city or get a day ticket for every public transport available. They must miss so much of the city while on them.

Whenever we went to any city as a tourist, we always avoided any place with lots of tourists and instead explored all the nice little things off the beaten path. The only place were I ever found tourists to be annoying was in train stations. Usually the locals now exactly were to go and were not to stand, but tourists block paths and especially escalators by standing on the wrong side. That is very noticeable in the Berlin main station. It is constructed very confusingly, especially to tourists, and so they usually get lost.

4:15 as a Ukrainian, I relate to this so, so much!! It is infuriating when people who don’t know about our history (or just listen to the russian propaganda version of it) celebrate the soviet union or tour Ukraine for its “soviet appeal” with ZERO regard for the fact that that regime murdered and oppressed millions of our people just for being Ukrainian and actually was an occupation of our country which symbolises so much pain & trauma for us to this day. I think also especially after russia’s war against us during which they’re doing the same atrocities to us as their soviet predecessors did & for the same reasons, there will be zero tolerance of soviet symbolism in Ukraine 🙏

On a side note, thank you so much for hosting some of my compatriots in your cities while our country fights this hopefully final war against the russian’s attempts to occupy & oppress us. Public drinking is what makes a city great. In my country it is 100% illegal to drink in public at any time. So the streets are dark and dangerous. I've been to places where you can drink anywhere in the city and there is people everywhere and you always feel safe walking in any alleyway

I was lucky enough to visit Prague last week. It has been wonderful 4 days. By the way: Thank you for the wonderful Food-Recommendations. I really loved "Vegan's", "U Červeného páva" and the "Kolacherie" I am agreeing with you in all, but two points: First "Dont do only the classic touristy stuff": This depends on how many time you have, I was in Prague for three and a half days and the only "Non classic-Touristic"-thing i was able to do, was to visit the national museum and get up to the Petřín. There, unfortunately was no time to do much more. Second "Dont take the Hop On, Hopp Off buses": I have to be honest, one "Must-Do" on all of my city-trips is to take the HOHO-Buses. There are not many alternatives to get a general overview about the Points of interest and the history of the place you are visiting in such a short time.

In any city we visit that has a tram line we take it as far as it goes in a couple of directions. That lets us really see the city and not just the historic center. It also helps us figure out where we want to go explore further the next day. We've also spoken to some amazing people this way as someone usually assumes we're lost tourists and ask if they can help. We ask that person for recommendations of what to see.
