I’ve never seen anyone address this! So grateful for this video because this is how I was raised! “The Power of Positive Thinking” and being so shamed for sadness or anger 😣

Thanks for this video. My parents act like this and only want me to act a certain way but pmdd and adhd make it impossible to be like that so I don't think there will ever be any middle ground with them. I think cutting them out of my life is the best choice because they'll never get it or don't ever want to get it. The way they were earlier in my life made me feel a very hopeless helpless and suicidal because I couldn't get the proper amount of support from the two people I saw the most and it made me feel like I was a freak of nature or a monster when I just needed to feel loved and supported for how I was/am by somebody.

You are so right. I had sadly fallen into that and hindsight I have to admit how unhealthy it was.

I found it very true when you talked about showing issues aside and didn't deal with all the negative things that were distressing. Instead only focused on the positive. Until the tsunami of emotions hit. What's helpful is dealing with things at the time and try to improve the difficult situation and not shove it aside. Also not force the fake positivity on the family members.

Toxic positivity has been and is just lies to me 😓💔. Lies lies lies.
@DocSnipes5 ай бұрын
I understand how you feel. Toxic positivity can indeed be harmful, as it dismisses real emotions and experiences. It's important to acknowledge and validate your feelings, rather than covering them up with forced positivity. Your feelings are valid, and it's okay to experience and express them honestly. Surround yourself with people who support and understand you, and take the time you need to process your emotions. Also, I’d be grateful to hear what you found most useful from the video. Additionally, if you're interested in addressing toxic positivity or want to explore my video library, you can use my AI: allceus.com/AskDocSnipes.

OMG! I was bullied by my neighbors this weekend (if you consider taunting and mockery bullying). I know a person who considers themselves to be so spiritual that they are an "Ascension Master". I was told to transcend..etc. You get it. I'm just not spiritual enough! She's a big marijuana user so it appears to be part of her suppression of everything bad. Also, she is so self centered that she won't allow you to even complete a sentence. She will find a way to interrupt you. But she gets to tell her narratives. This is all totally insane to me.

Thank you for sharing your experience-it sounds like you’ve been through an incredibly frustrating and invalidating situation. Being taunted or mocked, especially by someone who considers themselves “spiritual,” can feel deeply disorienting and dismissive. It’s hard when someone uses toxic positivity or spiritual bypassing to avoid engaging with difficult emotions while also shutting down your opportunity to express yourself. Your feelings are completely valid, and it’s okay to feel upset about being treated this way. Setting boundaries with people who interrupt or dismiss you can be challenging but empowering. For example, calmly asserting something like, “I’d like to finish my thought before moving on,” can help. And it’s important to remind yourself that their actions or worldview don’t reflect your worth or ability to handle tough situations. If you found this video helpful, please consider sharing it to help others recognize and manage toxic positivity. How are you feeling now? If there’s something specific I can help with as you process this, please don’t hesitate to use DocSnipes.com/Clones. You’re not alone in navigating these challenges!

I hear you, and it’s completely normal to feel that way sometimes. We all have moments where we doubt ourselves, but that doesn’t define who you are. Recognizing those feelings is a step toward self-compassion. What helps you shift your perspective when you’re feeling that way?
