you print the plugin settings because industry artists record through analog gear so the settings are printed to the vocals which means they are going to sound way better. When you print like he does it recreates the same process as major artists do they don’t use a lot of plugins that’s why they are in the studios with gear it’s not just for show that’s why the how to sound like templates are people just copying flows or mimicking voices to make you think it’s about the plugins

When you use the pre amp and turn it on and up towards 50 it gets louder. My Apollo is always on zero because I’m using the pre amp on the neve at 45

You have to turn your mic switch down. Most studio mics have -10/20 - 0 +10/20 . If you’re using a pre amp you have to move the switch to negative and then adjust the knob and fader accordingly.

If you want to replicate how the hardware is used, yes. To get its “sound” without an Apollo and its software, you need to set up a bus and record through it. Sounds great on just about everything… I like it to eq kick and bass primarily

@@Uptxwn-Nai np bro.. I forgot to mention, in logic, you can apply the plugin and its effects after the vocal has been recorded and bounce in place. It will mute the “dry” signal and create a new track with the plugins effects on it. The key command is ctrl+b. This will help save some cpu.

Isn't recording on -31db to low? I track my vocals with the NEVE1073 thru Apollo Preamp and ending up very low in my DAW like you. When I bring up the audio file in my daw with gain, is that actually okay? Or should we adjust the output knob on the Neve? (I have to bring all the way +12 to end up at least -18/-20db in my DAW)

You’re supposed to print tbh with an Apollo but you have to stop looking at wave files when you have to use your ears. He showed you and told you that he was low just to show you what a mic pre can do to the signal. If your vocals are too low just print the mic pre or put it down on the other track it’s not hard at all but you probably should up your Apollo gain and reduce the mic pre since you don’t print

I think I need some help here! Because when I use the preamp section in my Apollo and set the Neve Gain to about 30-45 I ended up way to quit, even with the Output trim all the way up. When I go for 50 or higher on the pre-amp I get to my levels but I don’t want to drive it this hard since the coloration is heavy
