27 phone calls a day on average across 5 years... no holidays, no sick days. Assuming the average cold call was between 3 minutes (unsuccessful), or 8 minutes (successful). That is 3×27=81 minutes per day. OR 8×27=216 minutes per day. 1 hour and 20 minutes OR 3 hours and 36 minutes per day Doable but DAYUM...

Yeah about 40 to 50 a day which doesn't make sense, most jobs have a quota 500-700 calls minimum that you have to be making on a working day

Do you think I can have a full time job in tech sales but also learn machine learning and coding in the down time? I believe in understanding technical concepts but also want to learn how to sell

Hey Shane! Hopefully you'll see this, but do you believe it's possible to enter a tech sales job as a foreigner? I've spoken English for almost half my lifetime and I'm quite fluent at it, but I want to test if I can make this work so as to not waste $500 investing on a course to get a tech sales job. Do you think it's possible?
@ShaneHummus2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. It’s possible but really depends on how thick your accent is to be honest
@Jnnewsman2 жыл бұрын
@@ShaneHummus I'm more worried about my nationality and time availability (due to being a uni student) being issues for the SDR position in the US. But, if it's possible, I'll still try to get the position. I think I'll contact Troy from CourseCareers to see if there's a chance. Thanks for the reply!

@@ShaneHummus just read your reply lol. Does this mean if I have a thick accent I can't be good at tech sales?
@stephaniecrothers84822 жыл бұрын
If your accent is truly thick which would make it hard for native English speakers to understand, your sales mainly suffer. Unfortunately, English speakers are short on patience with people with thick to heavy accents. They want to understand someone quickly or they're not doing business. That's what he means. Also, a voice coach can teach you how to thin out your accent.

@abhi5ingh Жыл бұрын
A BDR/SDR role like the one he is explaining is an entry level tech sales job. Every day you cold call high level executives and try to set up meetings for your more technical counterparts to come in and close the deals which is a long sales process. So yes you’re a sales person trying to deliver value and find people who are looking for your service. You work hard enough and eventually you’ll be the one closing these deals which is the AE role and that’s when you make a ton of money.
