I moved from academia to industry during Trump's first administration in 2017 due to a lack of funding for research. I would say that ignoring education/academia is the best way he should do to support it.

Wtf are you talking about? The purpose of school is an academic education in hopes of success when on your own as an adult, for society as well as yourself. That has nothing to do with feeling safe and learning about yourself. And there's definitely been a decline in its success since the government got involved.
