Originally built by local companies, yes. Back in 1964. Question now is: who renovated it? Local or Chinese company?

Why is rail a competition? Every rail line that both Europe and China puts down is a benefit to society, both in terms of economics and the environment. European trains run just as well on Chinese rail as pure European stock.

US influence is no better arguably, if not worse. I hope Germany will have a new government that sees as a priority to strengthen Germany's identity, and Europe's/Germany's independence from US, China and Russia. We are bleeding so much investment money to the US, just to make the richest people even richer, that should be instead invested locally to grow our own economy.

@@amunra5330 Sure it can. Thee EU controls what happens in its borders. China also is not really doing so well economically (Arguably currently worse then the EU). The best both can do is depend upon each other to cover each respective economic weakness. Those who say the EU can't are just agents of disinformation with their own political agenda's. They are, by default; liars.

It took chinese investments to open the eyes of EU and USA to indulge constructively in Africa, Balkans, and in South America , in either way it is good with the growth of infrastructure and technology and the prosperity that it can bring along with it for the people .

Extend the rail line from Budapest to Berlin in Germany. That would be amazing. 320km/h from Berlin to Budapest. Take money given to illegals for social programs and invest in infrastructure.

Brazil shuts Chinese BYD factory site over 'slavery' conditions Brazilian authorities have halted the construction of a factory for Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD, saying workers lived in conditions comparable to "slavery". More than 160 workers have been rescued in Brazil's northeastern state of Bahia, according to a statement from the Public Labour Prosecutor's Office (MPT). They were allegedly put in a "degrading" environment and had their passports and salaries withheld by a building company. The factory was scheduled to be operational by March 2025, and was set to be BYD's first EV plant outside of Asia. The workers, hired by Jinjiang Construction Brazil, lived in four facilities in Camaçari city. "The conditions found in the lodgings revealed an alarming picture of precariousness and degradation," the MPT said. "Slavery-like conditions", as defined by Brazilian law, include debt bondage and work that violates human dignity.

Rail is the future. And, by the way, rail/metro networks, with trains as fast as airplanes, could reach commercial viability and economy of scale sooner than expected - perhaps depending as much on political decisions as on technical innovations.

Five years after the emergence of COVID-19, China is once again in the global spotlight due to another mysterious virus outbreak. This time, authorities are grappling with the spread of the human metapneumovirus (HMPV), a respiratory infection that is causing concern in several regions of the country. Also known as HMPV, the virus attacks a person's respiratory system. It is more common among people under the age of 14 and senior citizens.

china is really scared.. Did China just blink in the South China Sea? Chinas collapsing economy forced it to compromise with the phillipines just like it recently surrendered to India on the Himalayan border.. China declares modest new baselines around contested Scarborough Shoal, enclosing a much smaller strategic area than previously feared. These new baselines around Scarborough Reef are, therefore, fairly conservative and enclose a dramatically smaller area than the US had feared. China’s declaration signals that it may have abandoned its much larger “offshore archipelago” claim to what it calls the Zhongsha Islands.

I see several problems with the Chinese project. The speed of construction comes with lacking quality causing higher maintenance bills and more frequent breakdowns. The EV plant China plans to build is also a high risk. EV sales in the EU are getting stagnant as subsidization is being cut making EV's more expensive in use comparatively then ICE cars which will not change with cheaper EV's as they still remain more expensive. So that Chinese EV plant might turn into dead weight. Sales numbers of EV in the Eu since the last few years tapered off and are now flat-lined and set to go down. This should worry China as this trent can not simply be curbed by lower priced EV's.
@amunra5330
@amunra5330 17 сағат бұрын
Chinese Railway construction is of VERY high quality that is the so many countries asked China to build their rail systems. The EU mandated that EV cars be at least 50% of new car sales in Europe by 2030. That means demand for EV cars will increase.

@@amunra5330 This is a blatant lie (another one you tell by the way). Which makes me believe you are in some ways in service of disinformation for money or political gain. In China itself there are many problems with their own rail network. They suffer from technical issues (this very article also mentions construction issues in the EU track of China) and bad planning. Don't get me wrong; China purposely chooses this as a business-model but it has issues. Ultimately its a choice; Quick build cheap Chinese rail with high maintenance costs and potential breakdown or slower build EU rail with lower maintenance cost and less breakdowns. Considering EU companies also spend their money in the EU rather then funneling it to China it is clear that one should not choose for the Chinese option unless you are politically cheap-skating and don't care about the fallout in later years.
