If everyone bought American made, there’d be no reason to import anything in the first place.

90% of our food comes from other countries. And a lot of it can't be grown or produced in America.

Where are you going to get your bananas, and produce in the winter? Fruits and nuts: Nearly 60% of fruits and nuts consumed in the U.S. are imported. Milled grains and oils: 57.4% of milled grains and oils consumed in the U.S. are imported. Sweeteners: 45% of sweeteners consumed in the U.S. are imported. Vegetables: 40.4% of vegetables consumed in the U.S. are imported. Seafood: 70-85% of seafood consumed in the U.S. is imported. Ground beef: Imports account for 20-30% of ground beef consumed in the U.S. That is just food.....need more information?

Everything we use on daily basis like a car or phone your washer and dryer your dishwasher your TV your computer everything has parts made in China so even if we did go all American it would take us years to build factories and train people to make these things. You don't seem to understand how much we rely on other countries for our everyday living and how we aren't capable of going all American do you ...

More made in the USA and less China junk.

Do I guess you're going to stop eating because 90% of our meat and produce and seafood come from other countries not just China.

The United States imports iron ore for a number of reasons, including: Domestic reserves: The United States has been running low on high-grade iron ore reserves. Transportation costs: Iron ore mines in other countries, like Brazil and Australia, can deliver iron ore to the United States at lower prices than domestic mines.

All you bozos in this comment section saying buy American. You don't understand that 90% of our food comes from other countries. 90% of all seafood in America comes from another country. Yes we make stuff in America but the ingredients and stuff that we need to make stuff in America comes from another country. We don't have cotton fields in America anymore they are in other countries. We don't grow rice in America we don't produce enough eggs for all the Americans in America we don't produce enough anything in America for us to solely live off of what we grow and produce in America.

You must not get out much. You can see cotton fields on the side of I-95.🙈😄

@@roseturner7889 last harvest in the US was 15.8 million bales of cotton, which is a 20% increase. I would say we still harvest cotton domestically. We only import 16.4% of fresh and processed fruit and vegetables. Not sure how you came up with 90%.

During the fiscal year ended in September 2023, agricultural imports amounted to approximately 195.4 billion U.S. dollars, this is forecast to increase to about 201 billion U.S. dollars in 2024.

I think the black dude should let the white lady talk about Tariffs that was put on all these democratic southern states during the early 1832 because the South had all good's by way of free labor, or slavery. South Carolina was threatening to leave the Union if they continue to do this. The northern states, concluded that we cannot compete in the market place with free labor.
@WayneTheSeine8 сағат бұрын
It was nice to see an economics professor explain the impact of tariffs, but a 6th grader would have sufficed and would have done it for free. I cannot believe adults need to have this explained.
@stlounsbury7 сағат бұрын
They’re listening now. And one is probably not better off taking their lead, as you mentioned, from a 6th grader.

If they want to make millions off their product they have to pay a tax, the same tax we pay in customs when returning back to the states with goods. The item still sells and should sell for what it is worth. It doesn't bump up the price of the item. That's what the other country selling it does cause they're pissed they have to pay a tax... The same tax US civilians already pay.... Like wtf
@monibert4486Сағат бұрын
Trump wants to het rid of income taxes, no taxes on SS and no taxes on tips. What you save on taxrs makes up for higher cost. We had higher import taxes on goods from china his first years.

Ahhh Trade Wars due to Tarifs. I see the concept is to lower our $30 Trillion deficit but it may do the same with other countries. If BYD has 43% of auto sales in China, why is it that Tesla does not have that type of market in the USA? Seems like the USA needs to learn something China is doing.
