The cop clearly "de-escalated by escalation"... to escalate to force his victim to fold... he was used to being obeyed. That he chose to plant himself in back of the victim, it can easily be inferred that he had no fear as he chose to pick the fight. He considered that he owned that part of the theatre and was giving orders that had to be obeyed. That he was a cop actually makes it clear to be he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Obviously, the Defence did a good job in selecting a jury that has zero common sense.

"I cannot be responsible for the reaction of 30 million Texans"... Oh, but you must be. When designing something like this, you need to consider how it would work in the real world. If it foreseeably causes people to pick fights and murder people with impunity, then you are responsible for that result. You are supposed to know Texans, and know human beings in a wider sense. You need to think about how it would work for real. This is not some abstract statement of an ideal... this is the real world with real effects. In fact, that state senator seems obsessed with principle and ignores practical reality.

I watched the whole trial. It was not like they claimed here. One punch can kill you, had he been assaulted he might have been killed, so he had the right to defend himself. Chad was the physically aggressive person. He turned to fight and threw an object at him. He could have just sat down and ignored him. A tragic situation, but watch the trial if you want a balanced point of view.

Qatars has similar self defense laws to America: “Article 49 of the Penal Law, The right of private defence shall arise if the following conditions are fulfilled: (1) If the defendant faces immediate danger of any offence affecting himself or his property” One notable difference between US law and Qatar’s is that this barbaric kingdom still allows flogging, a punishment often doled out to their foreign workers and servants HOW MEDIEVAL!!!

The law is actually a really good thing. It came about because of real life situations where people attack someone in public and the person being attacked saves their life from the attack but end up going to jail for highly unjust reasons. Like any law, it can be applied poorly or misused. And i from what you showed it doesn't at all appear like a good application of the law in that instance. Which is a real shame. But even with that being a thing, the law still stands for a very important principle. which im glad exists in the US. The US has plenty of bad laws, and does plenty of actions across the world which qualify as crimes against humanity. Iraq and helping the occupiers of central Palestine being glaring examples. however im sure grateful of the gun and self defense laws the US has, any nation which does not is much lesser for it. And clearly doesn't have respect for its people's human rights

Trayvon martin beat the sense out of George Zimmerman. Bad. Was on top of him wailing on him for over 2 minutes straight. He tried to grab his “pew pew” off his waist towards the end, that’s when Zimmerman grabbed it and did what he did. The propaganda would like you to believe Zimmerman went up to him and did that to him for no reason. Trayvon martin and Zimmerman exchanged words, Trayvon martini actually LEFT the scene, then returned 5 minutes later and attacked Zimmerman and tried to steal his weapon. Eye witnesses saw Zimmerman getting bludgeoned on the ground screaming for help. There’s a great deep dive documentary on this case. Trayvon was already a gang memeber and had already been selling “Pew pews” to other kids in his highschool. That’s what he known for in school. I’m guessing his intention was to beat Zimmerman up and steal his weapon to resell it at school and it just didn’t work out like that. There’s GREAT documentary that actually uses the court discovery and goes through almost all of Trayvon martins private text messages. He wasn’t an innocent kid. He was a gang member who sold weapons to other kids on the black market and was almost expelled from school for attacking and wailing on people the same exact way he did to George Zimmerman.
