Last season he also improved a lot with pocket passes. Definitely still primarily a scorer but still a better playmaker than years prior.

Tyler Herro is 1 of my favorite basketball players in the NBA

I'm actually pretty glad they kept herro as he has better off ball movement compared to dame and the guy may even be the point guard we need.

Great video. Herro is a very interesting player to me. He's obviously a good-to-very-good 3-level scorer, with both the ability to create space and make a large variety of shots from multiple distances. I agree that upper body strength is his biggest weakness. Not only defensively, as was pointed out in the video, but it also cuts down his trips to the line, which is a shame because he's near-automatic on free throws. My biggest questions around Tyler are around his playmaking. The Heat / Spo made a point of getting him PnR reps last year, and he's serviceable in the two-man game. But without a sturdy drive-and-kick component, and with Tyler often spending too much of the shot clock probing the D for angles (such that secondary actions were less viable), it often left multiple players uninvolved in the possession. I suspect this dynamic had an impact on the Heat's outside shooting cratering as a team last year, though I'm not sure how I would confirm that. If the above is correct, can you build a functional offence around Herro as primary ball handler? Generating less FTs and open 3s (both from the lack of kick-outs when the D collapses, and from secondary actions) cuts down on two of the juicier outcomes for any given offensive possession. Is Herro as primary initiator just necessary, given the lack of PGs on the roster? Would the offence be better running mostly through Bam DHOs with Tyler off-ball and just sprinkling in the PnRs? I'm not sure, but I find it very interesting, and will be keeping an eye on how things are working this season.

Amazing video! Great analysis. As a heat fan I feel like he has become extremely underrated and people act like he can’t do anything.

Herro is easily a 30+ ppg if he were on a team where he’s the focal point of the offense. He gets a bad stigma around the league unjustly

I'd love to see the Heat play spoiler despite all the big moves that were made throughout the top the of the East.

They'd likely need some timely injuries again to get past Milwaukee.

Doesn't matter what happens with Herto. The lack of big moves, will be the nail in the coffin for Jimmie Butler's chances at a championship. That "run it back" mentality for back to back seasons was just crazy. Not to mention large contracts to players that are mediocre at best.
@trevorburton3290 Жыл бұрын
They didn't even really run it back lol. They lost some of the guys that got them to the finals

Very valuable this is based on last season not based on the massive leap Tyler Makes this season in the 2023-2024. If you are going to talk about value you also have to talk about future progression Projecting is a skill and anyone Who has that can see how massive Tyler Herro value is.

My hot take is that Miami was better off using role players than pushing Herro as the secondary scoring threat. They went further playing as a team
@tj-23 Жыл бұрын
No those role players became good because they sucked last year while Jimmy bam and herro carried their weight.
