So glad you like this book, I loved it when I read it. Felt so fresh and original and made me love vampire stories again. So excited for the second book. Also 100% agree about the fake death trope. Few authors are really able to pull it off in a way that doesn’t seem absolute forced.

Very interesting. My wife has read more vampire stories than I have; Dracula, nne Rice books, Twilight (mainly for her sister), etc. So it would be interesting to see if this is up her alley or not. I do appreciate the deeper cultural aspects (religion and societal structure) when books dive into them.

Not sure how I feel about supporting an author who writes reviews for their own books. Their say on their own book is....their book. Maybe their own blog, or interviews.

I think you need to read what he wrote to understand why he wrote the "review". Its not a review in the way you are probably thinking it is but I totally understand what you mean. Happy reading!

I went ahead and read his review. It is funny, and I can see how you were sold on the book from it! It's a good bit of marketing on his part. My objection comes from a place of thinking that review spaces are for reviewers and readers. I'm glad to see he could leave a review without giving stars, but I still don't think my ethics on this topic aligns with the author's, particularly as his 'review' is the second one listed and therefore is getting a lot more eyes and preference than actual readers.
